Wayne Thiebaud is a 92-year-old American artist known for his paintings of food like cakes, pies, and sweets using techniques that make the paintings look like icing. Though he gained success in the 1960s alongside pop artists like Andy Warhol, Thiebaud did not consider himself a pop artist. He used various media like ink with hatching and cross-hatching techniques as well as oil paint to depict his famous food-based subjects in a style evoking icing or frosting.
