We are encouraging all our employees to work where they feel most comfortable. For 20% of us though, working at home brings tremendous difficulties for a variety of reasons, and so providing a safe and friendly place to work became a priority for us. Our People and Culture team at Wave worked hard to research the health & safety advice and regulations and to ensure our values and culture shone brightly throughout the plan for the re-opening of our office. To help businesses who are looking to reopen their Canadian offices in a way that is safe physically and comfortable emotionally we’ve made our "Return to the Workplace Playbook" public to be referenced and adapted as needed.
2. Coming to the office is
YOUR CHOICE
Working from home
is your choice, but
for those who want
or need it, the office
will always welcome
you
• Work where you want, we trust you to get the
job done well wherever you are and whenever
you are working.
• In this phase, the office is open for all those that
need it most
• We are optimizing for safety over
employee experience
3. Our Principles
Employee health
& safety is #1
Meet or exceed public
health guidelines
Learn fast & improve
through the process
Clear & transparent
communication
Minimize anxiety &
maximize emotional support
4. #ReportSymptoms
Part of preventing the possible spread of
COVID-19 is knowing what to do with a
suspected case. Further information on
COVID-19 symptoms and what to do can
be found here. It is important you
self-report, even when you are working
from home. You can use this form to
self-report.
IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING
WELL, SUSPECT YOU HAVE
SYMPTOMS, TEST POSITIVE
FOR COVID-19 OR HAVE BEEN
IN CONTACT WITH SOMEONE
WHO HAS IT, DO NOT COME
INTO THE OFFICE.
Here’s what to do next:
Complete an online self-assessment, contact telehealth,
speak to a family doctor or contact Wello to find out if
you are at risk of having COVID-19.
These are your options after this:
When in doubt, please get tested. Find an Assessment
Centre near you. You should remain at home in
quarantine until you receive the results. If the test
results come back positive:
a) you must self-quarantine until you pass 3 days with
no fever and respiratory symptoms have improved
(e.g. cough, shortness of breath) and wait 10 days
since symptoms first appeared
b) If the test results come back negative, stay at home
until you are feeling better and have been symptom
free for 72 hours
c) If you are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19 or
are feeling unwell and choose not to be tested, you
must self-quarantine for 14 days
d) If you are not displaying any symptoms of
COVID-19, have not travelled in the last 14 days,
and have not come into contact with anyone with
COVID-19, you may return to the office once you
have fully recovered and have been symptom free
for 72 hours

6. In a RED MEANS STOP world...
Some things to be mindful of
• The office is closed. Everyone works from home
• If you must visit the office, please notify the People
& Culture team to arrange a time and follow all
procedures
• All meetings, townhalls, and interviews are virtual
• No business or non-essential personal travel
We’ve been operating in
RED since the quarantine
started in March.
7. In a PROCEED WITH CAUTION ORANGE
world... things start to re-open
• We will be implementing a 4:10 work week. This
means you may work in the office for 4 days and
then go into quarantine (WFH) for 10 days (more
information on page 17)
• The office will remain closed on Fridays (WFH)
until further notice
• You will be assigned to either Team Debit or
Team Credit
• Each week will alternate between Debit-weeks
and Credit-weeks. If you choose to come into the
office, you need to do so on your assigned week
• The office will be closed Friday-Sunday but may
be accessible by appointment through P&C (no
guarantees!)
8. In a BRIGHTER YELLOW world...
things slowly return to normal
• The office is opened - you continue to have the choice
to come in or work from home
• Many of the restrictions from the ORANGE CODE are lifted
• We will have virtual options for meetings and townhalls
• Essential business travel only or personal travel is permitted
with quarantine periods as advised by Public Health at the time
While we don’t know exactly
what this will look like, we were
operating in something similar
to YELLOW just before
quarantine started.
9. In a GREEN MEANS GO world…
Some things to look forward to
• Come one come all! Everyone is welcome in the office if you choose to come in!
• You can high-five your favourite co-worker in the hall as you walk past each other
• Wavers walk, bike, drive, and pack themselves like sardines on the bus as they
make their way to the office without any concern for physical distancing
• Dispensers are loaded with chocolate covered almonds,
peanut butter pretzels and cereals
• Interviews are face-to-face, and candidates get to ogle the office
• Visitors and guests are welcomed into our space with a warm Wave welcome
• Conferences and travel are back to normal
• All IT equipment that’s been renting space in your homes makes
its way back to the office

(available only in our Yellow
Code)
• Yellow bands mean you are ok
with talking, but no touching
• Pink bands mean you are
keeping your distance
20. Entering & exiting the office
• We are open to employees on a controlled schedule from

us if you have not already
• For those on the 4:10 office schedule we will help
make sure you are not carrying a desk worth of
gear back and forth

functionality outside the office, including MFA
