This document discusses converting municipal solid waste into energy through gasification. It states that municipal solid waste is a form of biomass that can be gasified to generate heat and power. Gasifying the amount of waste produced daily by 1 million people could provide enough electricity to supply 50,000 households. Specifically, one tonne of municipal solid waste can produce 2,170 kWh of electricity, enough to power two large households for a month. As an example, the waste generated daily by 900,000 citizens, or 630 tonnes, could produce over 1.49 million kWh of heat energy per day, equivalent to 62.1 MW of heat power, and 20.5 MW of electricity with 30% efficiency.
