The booming e-commerce sector in India is driving increased demand for warehousing space. E-commerce firms now account for 22% of total warehousing demand, up from just 2% in 2012. International retailers are also expanding operations in India and investing in new warehouses to support growth. The implementation of GST in 2017 is transforming India's warehousing trends by eliminating inter-state tax barriers and encouraging the development of larger, centralized hub warehouses over many smaller, scattered facilities. This consolidation is expected to lower supply chain costs and improve logistics efficiency.
