The War Industries Board was a committee created before World War 1 to mobilize the American economy for a potential war. It was formed in July 1917 and was led first by F.A. Scott and then successfully by Daniel Willard. The WIB affected the American economy by mobilizing production, which guaranteed the defeat of the Allied nations. It had the long-term effect of greatly increasing the U.S. gross national product compared to 1914.
