George Washington was elected as the first President of the United States and provided strong leadership to the young country. James Madison kept detailed notes at the Constitutional Convention and helped the delegates reach compromises, which was important for writing the Constitution. Many Virginians migrated west and south after the American Revolution to find better farmland as tobacco farming depleted the soil, taking their traditions and cultures with them as they settled in new areas through passages like the Cumberland Gap.
This presentation was made to outline the effects of the Civil war. In an attempt to achieve this I felt the need to have a broad scope of topics. I know this conflicts with my outline critiques, but I felt like this would allow for a more effective powerpoint; instead of fewer topics and more fluffed out ideas.
Covers key info for Washington, Madison, Jefferson, Mason, as well as VA Declaration of Rights and VA Statute for Religious Freedom. Also includes info on the expansion of VA's agricultural base after the Revolutionary War.
