What is the Priesthood
An outline for a lesson on What is the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood. This presentation was prepared for my 11-year-old Scouts.
The sacrament of the holy orders
The Sacrament of Holy Orders continues Christ's priesthood by incorporating men into the priesthood at three levels: bishop, priest, or deacon. Bishops stand in direct succession from the Apostles and have the power to sanctify others and govern the Church. Priests assist bishops and have the power to celebrate the Eucharist. Deacons assist priests and bishops in their ministry. The Sacrament can only be validly conferred on baptized men, and it imprints an indelible spiritual mark that can only be received once for each level of ordination.
Our great hight priest
Jesus Christ is our great high priest who intercedes for us before God. As high priest, he holds a superior position to the priests under the Mosaic law since he is sinless and sits at the right hand of God in heaven. Through his sacrifice, Jesus has the power to save all who come to God by him and pardon their sins. He alone can bring eternal life, having paid the price for sin that we could not pay. Believers are called to be priests today through Christ and properly understand his role as our mediator and advocate before God.

We did this by looking at what Jesus said in Matthew 28:20 about teaching His disciples to obey His commands. Then to finish the workshop we reviewed the answers to the questions we had looked at and were given links to discipleship resources on the internet.
