Slideshow Report on Art Happenings in the Visayan Islands of Leyte and Samar, Philippines for the Visayan Islands Exhibit Conference at Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, November 13-16, 2014
2. The Waray is the epitome of the “BISAYA”, the fun loving, warm, kinship
nurturing peoples of the eastern islands of our archipelago namely Samar,
Leyte and Biliran. Aside from giving importance in life their domiciles,
families, relations and their material environs; they treasure so much and
hold in endearment their pride as peoples of the Philippines and their
strong connection to their Faith in the Supreme God whose will and
intervention is greater than their own and in any human or natural
phenomena…

Resilient, undaunted may be the words the Warays are
described after the onset of ST Yolanda (Haiyan). With the
help of International and National aid, studios and hopes
have been rebuilt and reinspired. There may have been
setbacks of giving up, shying away from one’s Art because of
the great calamity the deluge and cyclone has brought us. On
the other hand, camaraderie, events and activity has
mobilized us to go on, move up to higher ideals. We thank
the Good Lord up above for this great comfort of being with
our Co-Visayan Visual Artists , here in awesome and amazing
city of Bacolod at the VIVA EXCON 2014.
