Michael Florent Van Langren created the first data visualization in 1620. In 1786, William Playfair introduced line graphs, bar charts, and pie charts. In 1854, Dr. John Snow used data visualization to trace the source of a cholera outbreak in London. Excel was released in 1985 and became a dominant data visualization tool for enterprises. Modern tools use self-service business intelligence, simple reusable components, and storytelling to help users understand complex data through visualization. The most important goal is to help customers see the whole story within their data in a clear, simple format.
