the same latitude as France’s great
Burgundy and Bordeaux regions, is
home to the Red Mountain AVA. In

Mountain wines seem to express
all that is best aboutWashington
viticulture.” With more than 200
wineries dotting the landscape within

for casual events and a number
of wineries have incorporated

accommodate groups.
Delegates have the opportunity to experience wine country by enjoying any of the
following wine oriented activities:

meeting environment that allows the
group to escape the everyday work
environment and concentrate on the
task at hand.

LOCAL HISTORY
CULTURE
Follow in the footsteps of Lewis Clark and their guide, Sacagawea, or step back in time to experience the region’s rich history
of Hanford, railroads, Kennewick Man, and the agricultural industry. The Tri-Cities is also a community with world-class scientists
and engineers who share their knowledge with visitors. To take in the area’s history and culture, various group tours are available
that share the community’s cultural aspects.
Confluence Project at Sacajawea State Park – The project
features the Seven Story Circles by famed artist Maya Lin. The
basalt circles are themed with messages carved into the basalt
to share the stories of the Season Cycle, Salmon Cycle, Welcome
Circle, Tribal Circle, Trade Goods Circle, Story of the River Circle,
and the Myth of the Coyote Circle. The Story Circles at Sacajawea
State Park are one of seven locations of the Confluence Project.
Historic Downtowns – The Tri-Cities area boasts a population
of over 250,000 residents, however, each city maintains its
small town charm that can be witnessed in the downtown
districts of Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland.
Downtown Kennewick has numerous buildings that have
been restored and renovated into restaurants, galleries, and
shops. Kennewick’s Art Walk is held the first Thursday of each
month and features regional art and artists, entertainment, and
special dining options.
Home to a vibrant cultural destination, Downtown Pasco is
where you’ll find ethnic restaurants, panaderias (Mexican
bakeries), and Hispanic shops and markets. It is also host to
the Pasco Farmers’Market, the largest open-air, fresh produce
farmers’market in Washington State.
The Richland Parkway offers visitors the opportunity to explore
antique stores, art galleries, and specialty shops, and select
from a wide assortment of restaurants. The Uptown Shopping
Center has neon signs reminiscent of the‘60s era where shops,
restaurants, and services await visitors.
Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory
(LIGO) – Using the world’s largest laser interferometers, LIGO
opens a window to the universe. Cutting-edge science and
engineering fuel the Observatory’s quest to measure the faint
ripples of gravitational waves. Free public tours are offered
and customized private tours are available.
The REACH – The REACH is a storytelling center; part muse-
um, part interpretive center, part community gathering place,
which serves as a guide to inspire learning and celebrate the
natural, scientific, and cultural history of the Columbia River
and Tri-Cities’region. Group tours and event space to accom-
modate up to 160 people are available.
Alphabet Home Tour – During World War II, Richland was
transformed from a quiet farming community of 250 residents
to a bustling city of 20,000 residents between 1943 and 1949.
Of the 5,000 homes built or transferred, over 3,700 homes were
referred to as the Alphabet Homes because each type of home
was designated a letter of the alphabet. The Gold Coast Historic
District in central Richland encompasses the original Alphabet
Homes. Plaques throughout the neighborhood explain the
history of the street names.

ARTS
CUISINE
Art and culinary adventures await groups and provide a true
Tri-Cities experience. From exceptional performances con-
ducted by regional arts organizations to dining opportunities
featuring local cuisine and wines, convention attendees are
welcomed to sip, sample, and celebrate in the Tri-Cities.
Harvest to Table – Visit a local Farmers’Market in the morning
and then participate in a cooking class or demonstration
using your fresh purchases from earlier in the day. Wine
pairing presentations are also of great interest for convention
attendees and work well for groups of all sizes. During
convention dinners, local chefs are happy to explain the
menu selection, the use of local produce in the meal, and
preparation techniques.
Food Wine Events – Sip, sample, and celebrate the region’s
wine industry and local cuisine. Food and wine festivals are held
throughout the year. Delegates are offered a local experience
with events that include Red Wine Chocolate, Spring Barrel
Tasting, Catch the Crush, and the Tri-Cities Wine Festival.
Dining – Sample authentic Mexican, Thai, Chinese, Italian,
Mediterranean, Indian, Greek, French, Vietnamese, and
American style cuisine. Many restaurants offer beautiful river
views and group dining areas.
Performing Arts – The arts come alive in the Tri-Cities with
musicals, exhibits, and works of national distinction. Groups
are welcomed to take part in downtown art walks and
symphony, ballet, and theatre performances.
Community Festivals – Experience the Tri-Cities and celebrate
the community’s arts, culture, and heritage at various festivals
showcasing the region’s way of life. For a community Calendar
of Events visit www.VisitTRI-CITIES.com/Visitors/events.

BETTER, BRIGHTER
WEATHER!
Boasting some of the best weather in the Northwest, the Tri-Cities offers visitors year-round activities. As a desert region, the
Tri-Cities area enjoys a mild climate with 300 days of sunshine each year. Average annual precipitation is less than seven
inches. In the winter, temperatures are moderate and snowfall is uncommon. Such agreeable weather translates to increased
opportunities to enjoy outdoor pursuits and the plethora of choices that reflect lifestyle in the Tri-Cities.
Farmers’Markets – Kennewick, Pasco, Richland, and West
Richland offer Farmers’Markets where shoppers can secure the
freshest local produce, flowers, herbs, and specialty products.
Farm fresh shopping is available Wednesday through Saturday
from early spring through fall each year.
Outdoor Events – Whether it’s walking, jogging, biking, or
rollerblading along the 67 miles of paved trails and pathways
or catching an outdoor sporting event, our community is
designed to encourage the celebration of the great outdoors.
If you are interested in more“unusual”recreation, there is
an outdoor Frisbee golf course and a team building“ropes”
course to consider.
Relaxing Patio Dining – There are a number of restaurants
located along the river with patio dining or river view dining.
Nothing is more relaxing than dining along the river and
viewing one of our spectacular Tri-Cities sunsets. Group din-
ing areas are available.
Golf – The mild, sunny, climate allows for year-round golf in
the Tri-Cities. In fact, many golfers from western and eastern
Washington as well as around the northwest, choose the
Tri-Cities for their golf escapes when their hometown weather
is too inclement for golf.
Playgrounds – The Playground of Dreams in Kennewick fea-
tures local landmarks and attractions like the Columbia River
and a hydroplane, as well as a pirate ship and castle maze. The
Family Fishing Pond is also located in the park. At Sturgeon Cove
Playground in Richland, kids love the 16-foot sturgeon shaped
play structure, as well as entertaining elements such as a sand
and water play area and miniaturized rock climbing walls.
Badger Mountain
Centennial Preserve –
574 acres on Badger
Mountain have been set
aside to safeguard one of the
last remaining shrub-steppe
habitats bordering the
southwestern edge of the
Tri-Cities. Hikers gain about
800 feet in elevation from
base to summit; a hike to the
top affords spectacular views
of the Tri-Cities, Yakima, and
Columbia River valleys.
