The Vietnam War had immense human costs. Over 2.7 million Americans served, with 58,129 killed and 300,000 wounded or disabled. On the Vietnamese side, an estimated 1.1 million North Vietnamese and Viet Cong were killed, along with over 2 million North and South Vietnamese citizens. For both American veterans and Vietnamese citizens, the pain and trauma of the war lingered for many years.
