In September 2010, the company announced cuts to overtime during their slow season. To supplement his income, the employee proposed making presentation videos for each of the company's tonneau cover products to showcase on their website, as a replacement for his overtime. His idea was approved and he began making the videos, which led to skyrocketing sales. Now, video production is his primary role at the company.

1. In September of 2010, the company was heading into the part of the year when running board sales
historically dropped off and a company announcement was issued that all overtime would be cut until
the dry season passed. I began thinking of creative ways to supplement my income and then I
approached the company president with a proposal. I said that I understood that the company had to
tighten the belt for the slow season, and I didn't want to ask for overtime when no one else would get
overtime but I also knew it wasn't a good time to ask for a raise, so I had an idea of some side work I
could do for the company that would replace my overtime. I pointed out that our tonneau covers web
site had lots of static pictures that didn't do a good job of showing the differences between the products,
and that I could make a presentation video for each product, showcasing the features and explaining the
differences. My idea was approved, I began making product videos and sales skyrocketed! Today, this
is still my primary role at AutoCustoms.
