This document discusses integrating crowdsourced and volunteered geographic information (VGI) into the INSPIRE infrastructure. It notes that public SDI is defined by INSPIRE in Europe and that crowdsourced data has become part of infrastructure. It suggests finding ways for crowdsourced data to be integrated as an information source for INSPIRE and for communities to benefit from INSPIRE. Examples of sharing data and maps between crowdsourcing applications and INSPIRE through common APIs and protocols are provided. INSPIRE hackathons are discussed as a way to exchange information and find common approaches between citizen observatory projects and open data.
