The children's opera "Brundibar" was performed by students at the Walworth Barbour American International School to mark its 70th anniversary. The opera was originally performed in the Nazi concentration camp Theresienstadt in 1944. Several original child actors who performed in Theresienstadt attended the anniversary performance. The students involved in the production learned about the history of the opera and the tragedy of its original child performers, most of whom were sent to Auschwitz after their performances and killed in the Holocaust. A handful of the original Theresienstadt child actors joined the students on stage for the finale, providing a moving experience for the audience.
This document provides information about Beit Theresienstadt, an organization that commemorates the victims of the Theresienstadt Ghetto. It describes the organization's educational programs and seminars about the ghetto, its archive containing documents and details of internees, and its exhibitions portraying life in the ghetto through artifacts and testimonies. The document also provides background information on the Theresienstadt ghetto itself, which was used as a transit camp by the Nazis during the Holocaust.
The document summarizes a football match that took place in the Theresienstadt concentration camp during World War II. It describes how a painting was discovered decades later that depicted the match, allowing survivors to identify players. One survivor, Peter Erben, is profiled - he survived 5 camps and immigrated to Israel with his wife. A museum was opened in Israel honoring the Theresienstadt Jewish football league, which helped prisoners cope psychologically. The short match footage provides a rare glimpse into life in the camp.

The document discusses the ongoing protests in Egypt and the pressure mounting on President Hosni Mubarak to resign after nearly 30 years in power. While Mubarak refuses to step down, the protests continue to grow across Egypt demanding political reform and an end to poverty and corruption. The military has been deployed and a nighttime curfew imposed in an attempt to quell the unrest, but tensions remain high.
