Predictive Analytics with Microsoft Big DataSaptak Sen
Predictive Analytics is one of the big customer requirements and an emerging trend for big data. Microsoft big data solution and data mining algorithms offer great tools you can use to mine all kinds of structured or unstructured data. We show how to do predictive analytics using structured and unstructured data with Microsoft big data solution and data mining algorithms. Starting with basics of data mining, we show how to build great models including customer segmentation (to understand your customers), prediction models (to find the right target customers for appropriate products), recommendation engine (to upsell and cross-sell), etc. We start with a realistic and simple scenario and demo the whole process from scratch using tools including the Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Data Mining Add-in for Excel, SQL Server Analysis Services, Microsoft HDInsight (Big Data) Solution, etc. We also share lessons learned and the pitfalls to avoid during predictive analytics process.

This document discusses and compares several popular social media platforms:
WhatsApp allows sending messages, images, and audio over the internet as well as creating groups. Instagram is a photo sharing app that allows editing photos with effects and filters before sharing to other social networks. Facebook originally started as a way for students to communicate but expanded to all users, allowing connections with friends and sharing of photos, chat, and posts. Twitter allows sending short text messages or "tweets" of up to 140 characters and following other users. Skype enables text, voice, and video calls over the internet. Each platform has benefits like communication and sharing features, but also risks like privacy issues, addiction, and unwanted contacts.
LINQ to HPC: Developing Big Data Applications on Windows HPC ServerSaptak Sen
This document discusses large-scale data processing enabled by new technologies. It notes that large data volumes from 100s of TBs to 10s of PBs can now be processed at low cost using distributed parallel frameworks like MapReduce. New data sources include sensors, devices, and unstructured data like text and images. These new technologies enable analyzing this data to answer questions and gain new insights about product popularity, best ads to serve, and detecting fraud.

This talk deals with European experiences with collective strategies for the development of the performing arts, with a focus on Flanders. In the 1980’s, international networks and platforms for (co)production and presentation were set up (e.g. IETM). In the case of Flanders, this coincided with diverse domestic strategies: a.o. the emergence of artists collectives, a touring circuit, an advocacy organisation,… In a time when government support for contemporary performing arts was absent, the interplay of these strategies resulted not only in Flemish artists being launched on international platforms. It also lead to the development of an innovative Flemish funding system. It enabled artists, companies and producing houses to develop their work and to fully engage in a transnational networks for (co-)production and presentation.
This way of working has resulted in growth: more productions, in more venues and countries all around the world. There are, however, downsides to the story. With government spending under pressure throughout Europe, producers are being forced to rely on an ever growing number of increasingly vulnerable partners. The position of individual artists in this network has become precarious. How sustainable is this growth in the longer term? Are the limits of the transnational co-production and distribution model in sight? How can we re-think our current working models?

This document discusses the growth of international arbitration as a method for resolving disputes and lists several international conventions and institutions that facilitate arbitration. It notes arbitration's non-judicial nature, quick resolution, and lower cost compared to litigation. It also mentions that arbitration awards are binding with no appeals and the process is confidential. The document then lists international conventions on arbitration from 1961 to the present as well as prominent arbitration institutions from around the world.

Duurzaam internationaal samenwerken in cultuur.
Doing it Together - Collective Answers to the Precarious Position of ArtistsJoris Janssens
Low incomes, juggling jobs, uncertain futures, and a constant need to be social, available and willing to move: it is fair to say that performing artists live in precarious conditions. But what can be done? How can the position of artists in the field be more sustainable? What will this new, alternative and bright system look like? How to start this paradigm shift?
In fact, this system shift may already be happening today. So many individuals, organisations, artists and art workers from across Europe are responding with a multitude of initiatives that span across funds for artists with families, artist lobby organisations, alternative currency systems, space sharing platforms, fair practice labels, and more. At the same time , there is no list or clear overview of all these initiatives. There is a lot of research and reflection about the issue, but it’s difficult to get an overview or keep track. In a session at the IETM Plenary Meeting in Bucharest, Delphine Hesters and I organised a workshop to stimulate exchange about current collaborative experiments to strengthen the position of artists

After the Growth? Trends in Performing Arts Production and MobilityJoris Janssens
On the basis of the dataset of Flanders Arts Institute, we sketch trends in the (co-)production and international touring of performing arts from Flanders since 2001. We see a rise in the number of performances abroad and the number of coproducers engaged. However, there's a flip side to the coin. Government funding is diminishing, and an increasing number of foreign partners is necessary to maintain the structures and the level of production. Furthermore, the position of individual artists is under pressure. How sustainable is the international succes of the performing arts from Flanders?

Meerjarige enveloppes sinds 2001
• Van 74 naar 99 podiumorganisaties
• Totaalbudget stijgt, gemiddelde enveloppe constant
• Gemiddelde koopkrachtdaling van 20%
Projectsubsidies podiumkunsten sinds 1993
• Instrument
in de jaren 1990 versterkt en vanaf 2000
afgebouwd
• Gemiddelde enveloppe in 2011 lager dan in 1993 en
gehalveerd sinds 1999
• Laagste projectsubsidie werd sinds 2002 vijf keer kleiner
22. SCOPE VAN HET ONDERZOEK
‘Gesubsidieerde’ veld in brede zin
• Niet-gesubsidieerden ook, als er een link is met het
gesubsidieerde veld
Producties met minstens één Vlaamse partner
• Dusook sommige producties van buitenlandse
gezelschappen
48. KORT
Economische blik op kunstenpraktijk
Daling ‘koopkracht’ projecten en structuren
Verdichtend netwerk
• meer organisaties, meer kunstenaars
• wederzijdse afhankelijkheid
Meer ‘hernemingen’: anders spreiden
Meer cross-overs, ‘podiumkunst’ als genre
Veranderende positie individuele kunstenaars
Internationalisering zet zich sterk door
49. WAT NU?
Tendensen hebben sector veel opgeleverd,
maar roepen ook vragen op.
