Colonization involves one group taking over another land and oppressing, enslaving, or killing the indigenous people. Historically, Europeans and Americans were large colonizers, oppressing and enslaving indigenous populations. However, other countries like China, Indonesia, and Russia also engaged in colonization by taking over Tibet, West Papua, and attempting to take over Afghanistan respectively. The colonized peoples often adopted the language and religion of their colonizers, and globalization has continued the spread of European and American culture and values.
