Colonization involves one group taking control of another group's land, often oppressing or killing the indigenous people. Historically, Europeans and Americans colonized many lands, oppressing and enslaving indigenous populations. However, other non-European countries also engaged in colonization, such as China colonizing Tibet, Indonesia colonizing West Papua, and Russia attempting but failing to colonize Afghanistan. The colonized peoples often adopt the colonizers' language and religion as colonization leads to globalization and the spread of Western culture.
