                             Self Reflection on Practice

As I sit here reflecting on my performance on the pitch today, I am
thinking about both the good things and the things that can be improved on.
Firstly, the things I can improve on include things like tracking back,
communication, and I also found that my finishing wasn’t as lethal as it usually is.
It seemed that my radar for the goal wasn’t quite on today. When I say tracking
back, I mean when I go up the field for an attack I am not quick enough coming
back and defending. I tended to linger around in the front and I believe that this
definitely hindering my progress in the sport. I need to track back more and
learn to come back on defense. I wasn’t too bad at communicating today but I
believe it can be better. I should be communicating more to my teammates and
should probably call for the ball a little more. Finally, my finishing was not as
good as it usually is and I believe this is due to a lapse in concentration and focus.
This will improve by the next training session, I am certain.

Now about the things that were good. I believe that my movement with
the ball today was very fluid and my skills on the ball were better than usual. My
touches were also very good today and I seemed to have better control over the
football. I also realized that my long passes were very precise and to my
partners’ feet today. When I say my movement and skills on the ball were good, I
mean that I was able to take skills that I had learned and apply them in game
situations. I feel that when I was receiving long balls today, my touches were
really good and I was able to have complete control over the ball when I received
it. Finally, when I gave my long passes to my partners, they were perfectly lofted
and landed right at my partners’ feet although there were a couple that weren’t
as precise. Overall, my performance was pretty good today but there is a lot that
I can improve on to become a better player.

Analysis:

In my game of soccer, it is evident that I use both Emotion and Reason in my
game of soccer. In soccer it is important that one is able to channel their
emotions into doing something productive. Like any other sport, in soccer there
are often moments when tempers flare. It is imperative that this emotion is
controlled, for if the anger lingers, one’s game-play worsens. When these
emotions are controlled or channeled into doing something productive, this
becomes more beneficial for the team. Thus emotion is prominent in soccer but I
make sure that I try my best to control it when I can. I channel my anger into
making clean tackles and fair play. Reason is also vital in a game of soccer
because I use deductive reasoning to make good-decisions on the pitch. Since it is
a contact sport, in soccer it is important to make slide tackles. When making
these tackles, it is important not to let emotion get into the way because it could
cause major consequences. I use deductive reasoning to think of what the
repercussions may be if I make a bad tackle and I change my approach to dealing
with that particular situation. This is why it is extremely important for there to
be reason in my game of soccer. If I were to not have reason, I would make bad
decisions without thinking of the consequences and this would put my team in
jeopardy. Thus it is imperative that both emotion and reason are incorporated
into my soccer game because the emotion will propel me into doing the right
things, but the reason will allow me to weigh out the consequences of a bad
decision and help me to use my emotions in a positive manner.
