Scandinavia includes the countries of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden located in northern Europe. While Finland and Iceland are sometimes grouped with the region, they are not technically part of Scandinavia. During the 10th-13th centuries, the kingdoms of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden emerged on the Scandinavian Peninsula. Denmark formed from Jutland, Zealand, and Scania, while Sweden formed from its lands on the peninsula. Norway included areas on the peninsula and overseas territories.
