The Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health initiated a networking project to coordinate four subprojects between vocational education providers that were developing occupational safety and risk assessment procedures for on-the-job learning. The objectives of the networking project were to share good practices in occupational safety, promote their application in vocational education, and increase awareness and competence in occupational safety among those responsible for on-the-job learning. Participants reported sharing knowledge and experiences at national seminars and via intranet, and found the cooperation beneficial with the hope it would continue.

2. The networking project
• The Finnish National Board of Education (FNBE) grant
annual state subsidies to vocational education providers
(VEPs) to develop occupational safety and risk
assessment procedures and practices in on-the-job
learning.
• The Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health
(FMSAH) initiated a networking project to promote
cooperation between these four subprojects.

7. The objectives and tasks of
the networking project
• Coordinate the subprojects of the VEPs
• Discuss and learn from the good OSH practices
developed
• Promote the application of good practices within on-
the-job learning in vocational education
• Increase OSH awareness and the competence of
the parties responsible for on-the-job learning
(VEPs, teachers, students and work places)

8. Results
• Participants reported each other on knowledge,
experiences and good practices, and brought together the
subproject outcomes.
• The results were presented in the national on-the-job
learning seminars and divided via intranet.
• The network participants felt the cooperation advantageous
and hoped that this kind of networking would continue.
