Collaborative Project
Option 9: Interview Parents & Grandparents about major changes between
generations
Members: Autumn Byrds and Fernanda Díaz.
Autumn - Mother
“My daughter’s generation differs in mine mostly due to technology. Technology
in my opinion has advanced their ability to learn and give them opportunities
my generation never had but it has also hurt social interactions and caused
many unnecessary problems doing to knowing too much about what “everyone
else” is doing.”
Autumn - Father
“A huge difference in generations now is the pressure to excel so early on and
compete, children no longer enjoy high school like we did. They also can
quickly fall far behind if they do not keep up with this competition. I believe
common sense weighs equal to the amount of test and test scores children are
seen by.”
Fernanda - Mother
“I think that the generation of now is different to my generation because it has
more technology, we used to have fun with simple things, now young people
have fun only if they have technology, they don’t know a way out to the
mountain and they don’t know how to camp, they are far from to know.
Also, I think they find everything on the internet, so they think they know more
than one who is older.”
Fernanda - Grandmother
“Generations of now very little know about healthy life, they live close to
electronic devices, they don’t enjoy their life.”
Similarities Differences
They have the desire to leave traces within
society.
The values have been lost in the new
generations.
They have lived in periods of struggle against
great leaders or society.
They have more technological advances,
doctors and scientists.
They have fought for their rights. Women can choose who to marry.
They have a better chance of getting a job and
studying.

Letter to our grandchildren
Dear future grandchildren:
I want you to understand how important it is to be respectful. By this I mean that you must be respectful not only with
the people you associate with, but with everyone around you. Always follow your dreams and if you feel you can not
reach them, learn to fight for your dreams. Never lose sight of your roots in the home, even if success can drive you
away.
Learn to value people's friendship, learn that technology can take something valuable away from you as an excellent
face-to-face conversation with someone, learn that small things like a hug or a kiss are more meaningful than money,
and if it reaches marry, learn that sometimes you have and sometimes not, that life can take many turns, but if you are
respectful, tolerant, empathetic, simple and honest, although many doors are closed in your face, there will be windows
that will open with new possibilities .
Do not forget to drink milk at breakfast for your bones and do not forget to be happy.
I love you.
