Sally, an employee, creates great documents but her coworkers outside her department are unaware of her work and recreate documents in subpar ways. Sally wants to create a collaborative site on EditMe to share her work and educate others. However, access needs to be limited. EditMe allows Sally to create groups and apply policies to grant different levels of access. This solves Sally's problem while allowing collaboration from appropriate coworkers.
In 2010, EditMe has gone from a wiki platform, to website CMS for online communities, to internal collaboration software. Matthew Mamet and Matt Wiseley will talk about how EditMe interviewed key customers, did homepage A/B tests, and how we've built our internal KPI dashboard to provide metrics to inform our decisions - all while continuing to acquire and support a thriving customer base of over 650 paying customers
We don't have all the answers on what makes a successful pivot, but we're willing to share what we've learned about how we setup our analytics, test our hypothesis, and how we learned to be efficient with our time.

Session for ESPC22 - 29 Nov 2022
How autonomy in the modern workplace has changed the way we work, forever (new)
One of my favourite sayings is "Products don't fix problems, people fix problems with products". Might sound like it makes sense, but very few companies are applying this logic. With exponential advancement in technology, we're experiencing unprecedented breakthroughs in our systems, but at the same time our employees are becoming slower and more frustrated while using this technology.
In this session Tracy would cover elements that could be causing this, and possible solutions to overcome and move forward:
· Paying for the mistakes made in the last 20+ years
· Autonomy in the modern workplace
· The era of the digital citizen
· Upgrading your training and support systems
It's not adoption we're after. Usage implies the use of technology, adoption will be the efficient use of technology, what is needed is to create and nurture digital citizens who are responsible and efficient users of the given technologies. Attending this session will change the way you look at the modern workplace.
My blog has been get a lot of hit on the big idea mastermind post so I figured I would do more because people really seem to want to know what going on over there. This article is more in depth.

Making time for big bets in a growth teamJAM London

Enterprise collaboration and social collaboration software have became mainstream of the enterprise solutions. This can also be seen from the solution market: It's packed with hundreds of different tools. From the surface they all look the same. Almost every collaboration suite provides tools for social sharing, file management, discussions, task tracking and other basic collaboration needs. But what are the major differences?

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

3. Meet Sally – An employee with a problem Nobody outside her department uses the great documents she creates Nodoby outside her department don’t know how to do the stuff that Sally knows, so they do it their way. Most times, their way isn’t so great.
4. Meet the Team – they have a problem They spend too much time creating materials that Sally should be making for them They know their materials arent’ that good, but what choice do they have?
5.
6. One Setting to Rule Them All SOLUTION: Sally creates an EditMe site that everyone can view and only she can edit
7. Eureka: The Team Likes it! NEW PROBLEM: Bob has a great idea on how to make Sally’s ideas even better
10. In fact, we ALL want access to that site Create groups of multiple users that are similar. Administrators control which users are in which group. Can also be used as email notification lists. A group is a collection of similar people.
11. We need some structure Policies replace default security settings. Defines read/write access for all Groups, including Public and Registered. Apply policies to specific pages using the Advanced tab of the editing screen. A policy says what people in groups can do in the site
12. Now, everyone can collaborate freely New pages can inherit security settings from the page last viewed. Enable Sticky Page Security in the Site Security settings screen. EditMe doesn’t use the concepts of folders or sections.
17. In Summary - You’ve got options With EditMe, your sites’ security starts with sensible defaults. Site-wide settings apply to most commonly needed configurations. Page-level over-rides handle exceptions. Groups & policies handle complex access control scenarios.
18. What is EditMe? Easiest way to create collaborative websites Use EditMe for business websites, private intranets, online communities, classroom sites, project team sites - just about any type of web site you need.
