Using plants to make perfume.
We looked at, smelt
, tasted and used
orange, mint, ginger and
flowers. We learnt how
these can be used to
make perfume, soap and
sprays.
Smelling the fresh scents
and recording the plants
pictorially and matching
them to the correct label
Smelling scents and working out
which plant product it matches
Resin -
dried sap.
The tools and equipment
of a scientist
Thanks to Ms Clemence Barbier
for sharing her knowledge and
time with us. We know have
learnt a lot of new ways we
need different plants.
How have plants been used
around our school?
The students were sent in pairs to take a photo of a way we use plants at our school. These
were then printed and pasted into their UoI books where they wrote a sentence to
accompany the picture. They then typed these statements onto this presentation.
It is to protect bicycles from the
rain. It is made from the stem of the
bamboo. Akash
We use the picnic table for eating
and drink on and doing work. The
wood comes from a tree. Adrian
It is used for sitting on, eating on
and art projects- Savannah
We use it for sitting on and resting on. If
you have no hat you sit on the bench and
watch the others play. It is made from a
tree trunk. Mai An
We use the lost and found to find
our things that got lost. The trunk is
used to make this. August
People use tissue paper to dry their
hands after they go to the toilet.
James
The bridge is made out of tree. We
use the bridge to go to another
building quickly. Yi Ming When we get dirty we use tissue for
cleaning. It is made from the trunk.
Ga In
We need grass to play on
and for decoration. We need
to look after it more. Hung
We used wood to make a door to
open. If you don‟t have a door you
would just have a hole. Kiran
We use the tires to climb up to the
separate floor. It is made of rubber
and its from the rubber tree. Omar
We eat on it and we can sit to rest.
We can put our things on it. Phuc
We put blocks in this and get them
out easily. We make it from a tree
trunk- Defne
We use them for going upstairs.
They are made from branch and
trunks of trees. Meina
We use the kitchen to cook and
playing. It made from wood.
Taishi
How do we need to share resources?
We learnt about the
Saguaro Cactus. It
grows to 15.24m and
lives for 200 years. Many
animals and people
depend on this cactus.
We need the
fruit to eat, and
the ribs to make
tools
I need to make a
nest in the
branches to keep
my babies safe
We need to collect
the seeds to eat and
use the dead cactus
to have shelter and
protection
We found out so much we
created posters about the uses of
some plants.
Take a look at them here
Can we do anything to help keep plants
around for all living things to use?
* I will use both sides of the
paper- Yi Ming
* I will plant seeds- Omar
and Hung
* I will remember to water plants-
Anh Phuc
• I will say to the people who
cut trees down to stop or we
and animals will die. We
should use what is already
chopped- August
* If I become a builder I will chop a little bit of
trees, only the ones I really need to. Kiran
* I will think about the animals that
need it too before taking it. Savannah
