- compare the Fact Book & the Libraries Reporting Data Fact Book summarizes data at a very high overall level ; Reporting Data breaks items out by various categories
- All the data we collect is in ‘hidden’ files in Reports & Statistics – these are limited access because they contain the master files and the Access Database that includes all the queries used to run collection numbers – numbers that are available on the Intranet Reporting Data spreadsheet
- Other folders within Reports & Statistics Licenses (Debbie’s/CDA): is limited access Folders everyone can see: The Reports folder includes higher level organizational reports – strategic planning, documents related to reorganization, the monthly reports the Dean sends to the provost. The Statistics folder include LibStats, Instruction, some older materials that will disappear in a year or two – if you want old Help Desk numbers, ask LIST to burn them to CD for you. General Reports – these may be of more interest to you it includes reports run from Voyager such as the reference list that you’re using to inventory collections
- The General Reports directory includes acq ledger reports that are run monthly for CDA
- A summary of collections in a branch library based on Voyager reports I run annually for Maxine.
- The numbers I collect for Reporting Data are in the Administrative Statistics folder, one of those folders with limited access. (Sorry, I love you all, but I don’t want you accidentally changes numbers on my spreadsheets) Reporting Data are based on definitions used for external reporting. And the numbers aren’t perfect. Our goal is to be consistent, and provide better documentation about what we report (especially if it’s different from the ‘official’ definitions)
- Using our data what is cool is that other libraries collect and report this data on the ACRL Academic Library Survey, so we have an opportunity to benchmark against these institutions using a software we subscribe to called ACRLMetrics. Based on FY10 data
- A report comparing virtual reference transactions to Student FTE.
- Expenditures per Faculty member
- Ref & Circ Transaction data for 2009 and 2010 compared to one of those ‘aspiration’ universities mentioned in K-State 2025. Always take numbers with a grain of salt. We don’t know how they collect their data; we know ours may be incomplete.
- Just because the data exists doesn’t mean we need to go wild running reports. But, it’s there, and we have an ability to get information you might need if you’re writing a paper, doing a presentation, or talking with faculty.
