During the speaker's time at university, they held various roles with a primary focus on being a student ambassador. In this role, they worked with widening participation initiatives to promote higher education at secondary schools in deprived areas. They also supervised students on residential trips and summer school programs. In their second year, they undertook leadership programs which involved community volunteer work and a research project on education inequality. They were invited to attend a conference on developing a lifelong learning system. Due to their involvement in university initiatives, they did presentations at local schools and attended career fairs. In their final year, they continued supervisory roles while developing leadership skills and helping international and younger students. Through these experiences, they decided to become a secondary English teacher
