The document discusses the four-fold human being and how our sense of self develops from early childhood. It explains that in our earliest years, from ages 2-4, our first memories form and we begin to see ourselves as an "I" through our self-image. As we grow older, our formative body unfolds and our memory develops into a storyline that links experiences. During puberty our inspirational body emerges and our willing transforms into desires that shape our motivations and thinking.
The document discusses three stages of human development: 1) Childhood and adolescence where our identity is formed through memories and temperament. 2) Early adulthood from ages 18-33 where we transition to independence and establish careers and relationships. 3) Middle adulthood from ages 33-57 where we take on more responsibilities like family and work, and transition again to reflecting on our identity and relationships. It also briefly outlines perspectives on human development from biosociopsychology and spiritual science.
Today, 23th of May I am presenting at the metameets 09 conference. My topic is the psychological relation between avatar and creator. This is my presentation.
This document promotes a product called Mastery MindFuse that claims to instantly infuse the brain with mastery through a 25-minute daily process involving images and affirmations viewed on a computer screen. It describes the author's experience using the product and feeling profoundly transformed, with their brain and beliefs literally rewired. The document also provides a brief overview of the science of brain entrainment and how deliberately altering brain wave patterns can change one's mind, habits, and beliefs.
This document discusses concentration, contemplation and meditation. It presents an exercise called "The Game" which involves choosing a motif to focus on and moving through different stages of contemplation and meditation. The goal is to strengthen intuitive thinking by focusing attention without grasping for meaning. It also discusses how humanity's spiritual development has gradually been occurring at younger ages over time.

experiences through the autobiographical accounts of significant figures. Understanding these phenomena may help us recognize heretofore largely unacknowledged influences on development.
The document discusses various perspectives on memory, thinking, consciousness and human psychology. It includes:
1) Diagrams of spiritual and indigenous concepts of the flow of thinking, feeling and intuition.
2) A diagram by Carl Jung showing how thinking, feeling, sensation and intuition relate to the enduring self, soul, and physical body.
3) A diagram by Rudolf Steiner showing formative and inspirational body streams connecting to senses, physical body, and soul.
4) Short summaries of different approaches in psychology such as behaviorism, neuroscience, psychoanalysis, and more.

The research aims to determine if early harvested and ensiled Miscanthus is a viable substitute for maize in anaerobic digestion plants.
The document discusses how memory and idea formation relate to our physical body and different body systems. In early childhood, we form ideas through our senses and remember through repetition, as our physical body is still developing. Some children are better at grasping ideas in the moment while others have a better memory. As we age, our capabilities develop in more individual ways. The goal is to harness our innate capability for remembrance by perceiving how our experiences relate to our enduring self.

It describes each component and how they interact and relate to aspects of human experience like memory, consciousness, self-awareness, and personal development over time. Key points include that the formative body shapes and maintains the physical body, the inspirational body brings awareness and desires, and the enduring "I" allows humans to develop beyond sensations and experiences through an inner awareness.

Key points include that the formative body shapes and maintains the physical body, the inspirational body brings awareness and desires, and the enduring "I" allows humans to develop beyond sensations and experiences through an inner awareness.
The document discusses how, with the unfolding of the Inspirational Body stream during adolescence, planetary soul qualities emerge that add contrast to one's temperament. It describes the qualities associated with each day of the week's ruling planet, such as creativity from Monday's Moon or expression from Tuesday's Mars. These planetary influences breathe into our developing Inspirational Body. The document suggests exploring these contrasts through games to better understand one's character.
The document discusses modern maladies of fear, anxiety, and boredom. It analyzes these conditions through the lens of four "windows" - the open window of what is known about oneself to both oneself and others; the blind window of what others know about one that one is unaware of; the hidden window of what one knows about oneself but chooses not to reveal to others; and the unknown window of one's future potential and motivations that are not yet known. It suggests that fear and anxiety may arise when one's ability to remember and enact one's spiritual purpose has weakened. Boredom may result when desires flow towards one but cannot be fulfilled due to a lack of enlivened memory. The document advocates
This document discusses exploring values and thinking through the lens of different "windows" - the open window of what is known to self and others, the blind window of what others know but the self is unaware of, and the unknown window of future potential. It examines how values are expressed through actions but can be inconsistent, and explores the trail of developing trust over time and how thinking has become estranged from our ancient participative thinking. The moral is that we don't always trust what we think we value, and once we found meaning in ideals but are now left with only discussing "values".
The document discusses habits, memory, and spiritual science. It explores how habits allow us to live independently but can also blind us to aspects of ourselves. It examines the "windows" of what is open, hidden, and unknown to ourselves and others. Habits were originally formed through spiritual forces but now constrain our thinking. Releasing habitual energies and strengthening intuitive remembrance can reconnect us spiritually.
This document discusses temperament and its significance. It describes how personality develops from life experiences and is colored by one's temperament. Temperament is a blend of inherited and non-inherited qualities that influence a person's moods and characteristics. The four main temperaments are choleric, sanguine, phlegmatic, and melancholic, which relate to the four streams of being and different body systems. Jungian and Native American perspectives on intuition, thinking, feeling, and sensation are briefly outlined. Lastly, a diagram shows Steiner's view of the four streams and their relationship to the soul and physical body.
Not-Self in the Brain - Rick Hanson, PhDRick Hanson
This document discusses the concept of "not-self" or anatta in Buddhism. It summarizes Bahiya's teaching that one should focus only on direct perceptions and experiences, without adding mental commentary or notions of self. When one sees only the seen, hears only the heard, and so on, there is no sense of self involved. This leads to the end of suffering, as clinging to notions of self is the root of suffering.
The document discusses the concept of the human person as an embodied soul from a philosophical and spiritual perspective. It represents the idea that humans are not solely physical bodies, but also possess an immaterial spiritual dimension referred to as the soul. Putting this concept into reality involves translating spiritual beliefs into practical actions and behaviors in everyday life through self-awareness, commitment, and adapting one's understanding over time. The goal is to integrate these principles and live in alignment with one's spiritual perspective to nurture the soul's journey.
The document discusses several concepts related to memory, thinking, and consciousness from different perspectives in psychology and neuroscience. It explores how memory is encoded, stored, and retrieved in the brain. It references debates around nature vs nurture and different theoretical approaches to understanding the mind. Key models of memory and forgetting are outlined. Quotes reflect on the brain activity underlying our inner mental lives and questions around the relationship between human thought, experience, and the nature of reality.
This document discusses the human soul from philosophical, Kabbalistic, and Chasidic perspectives. It explores the soul's nature as both a creation of God yet also containing a spark of Godliness. The soul's characteristics are described as immortal, non-physical, seeking transcendence and being a fountain of goodness. The document emphasizes viewing others as containing a part of God and knowing one's own divine core. Living according to Torah is presented as quenching the thirst of the soul to reconnect with its divine source.
This document provides an introduction and overview of mindfulness meditation. It discusses how mindfulness helps wake us up from an unconscious state of automaticity and limited awareness, allowing us to live with greater access to our conscious and unconscious possibilities. The document explains that mindfulness involves paying attention purposefully to the present moment in a non-judgmental way, and that both formal meditation practice and informal applications in daily life can help cultivate mindfulness. It aims to make mindfulness accessible without religious or cultural context.
Lecture for happiness matters symposium 25 4-2016Chantel Botha
This presentation will take you through a theoretical understanding of the work of Eric Berne around transactional analysis and how this understanding can transform you interactions in the workplace as well as your personal life.
The document discusses creativity from multiple perspectives. It explores how creativity allows one to express their inner self and find connection between their inner and outer worlds. Nature is a source of inspiration and taking photos helps capture feelings and memories. While creativity stems from both individuals and social systems, it is sparked by key individual traits within a supportive environment.
Self-awareness refers to one's ability to understand their own behavior in relation to others and see themselves from a third-person perspective. Most people claim to be self-aware but truly understanding one's internal dialogue and how it shapes their values and view of themselves is challenging. True self-awareness involves bringing one's unconscious behaviors and mannerisms into consciousness by observing patterns in how one acts when uncomfortable, as seen in the example of a colleague who brings her teeth over her bottom lip without realizing it is a sign of feeling awkward. Developing self-awareness starts with asking others you trust to point out any unconscious expressions or behaviors you exhibit under pressure.

The document discusses several philosophers' theories of self-identity:
- Descartes argues self-identity depends on consciousness and that the mind is distinct from the body.
- Locke claims personal identity is based on self-consciousness and memory. One's identity depends on remembering past experiences.
- Hume argues we cannot find an enduring self through impressions. We are just a "bundle of perceptions" with no fixed identity.
Psychology is the study of human behaviour. It seeks to look at the motivational drives within an individual
and offer an explanation to the behaviour that is demonstrated
The document discusses how many people are "spiritually constipated" and unable to experience the love and gifts of spirituality due to ignorance, fear, and rigid belief systems. It states that people memorize religious teachings from long ago but do not seek their own spiritual awakening. It also notes that some who study spiritual teachings intellectually are unable to manifest that knowledge into compassionate action. The document encourages letting go of limitations and beliefs in order to evolve into higher states of consciousness and experience spirituality not defined by religion.
This document summarizes the Buddha's teaching to Bahiya about taking life less personally and experiencing reality as it is, without projections of self.
The Buddha instructs Bahiya that when experiencing the seen, one should see only the seen qualities, without projecting thoughts of "I" or "mine". The same applies to the heard, sensed, and cognized. When one can experience phenomena in this way, without the overlay of self, there is no subjective experiencer left. This realization of non-self is said to be the end of all suffering.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

The significance of our
earliest memory
20. The You are I Game
Object: To find your earliest memory
Relax – calm and awake
Probably somewhere between ages 2 & 4 (or earlier/later)
If you‟re already familiar with this memory, let it
rest and orientate yourself
Some triggers…. An accident or illness?
Being in bed, a blanket, pyjamas? An item of clothing? A food or cup, plate?
The bathroom or other room, furniture, a view from a window/doorway?
Parents, siblings? A visiting relative/family friend or their house/garden?
A celebration or festive occasion? A journey, a vehicle? A Game, a toy?
Play group, nursery, infant school room/play area, playmate?
Does a particular sense trigger the memory?
Is the memory confused with a photograph/family story?
Having difficulty? Pause „somewhere near’ the memory.
What most „stands out‟ in the memory?
21. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
YOU ARE I
When your enduring “I” was first able to “hold up a
mirror”, look back into the past and recognise itself
“in reflection” as our self image or everyday ego.
Leading up to this
point we begin to feel
some awareness of this.
It remains for a while
as a feeling – a child‟s
feeling, but the
behavioural effects of
which can be observed
by parents/carers.
22. Up until this point, the
enduring “I” had no
means to identify itself.
Now it sees itself
“reflected” in those
permeating formative
forces upon which is
impressed memory.
My “I” stream is not yet flowing full.
It will continue to incarnate
for many years yet.
But now there is an
awareness of self.
Less of “me, me wants…”, “Emily wants…”
More of “I want…”
23. During our first six or seven years
our formative forces are bound up in the
extraordinary energy of physical development
There is significant brain growth – continuing even through
to our teens – its form fashioned both spiritually and by way
of imitation as a platform for soul development.
24. The formative body forces upon which is impressed memory
are still enfolded. Memories in our earliest years tend to be
remembered as islands of separate memories –
“island memories”.
25. These formative forces will later unwind,
becoming apparent towards about age six or seven,
when a “storyline” memory of experiences
begins to be woven.
26. In our first 2 or 3 years our memory,
later to flow in our formative body to
help us with everyday thinking and to
associate one thing with another,
is bound up with physical growth.
As we grow older, sense
perception and thinking
become imperceptibly
integrated.
In our first 2 or 3 years it is easier to
observe the “kissing gate” of sense
perception and thinking as two
separate processes. Parents/carers do
our thinking for us.
27. We want, quite literally, to get hold of
everything, take hold of the world.
We move towards everything,
find an affinity with everything,
a s y m p a t h y with everything.
It is as if we have broken free.
We move towards the future.
We have a w i l l i n g to be.
And yet in what we call memory,
it is as if we are still fast asleep.
It is as if we had an aversion
or a n t i p a t h y for the past
and we move away from it
with a will.
28. Then “me wants”
becomes
“I want”
We begin to wake up in the
activity of remembering.
29. “Please
can we go swimming
again today?!”
As our „storyline‟ memory emerges
and we remember
one experience after another,
the unconscious willing impulses
of our early years takes on a more
„outward‟ character –
a drive for more experience.
The forces of our
formative body are unfolding.
30. With our own storyline memory
our own t h i n k i n g
slowly begins to emerge.
As we move into puberty and
our inspirational body forces unfold,
our willing becomes clothed in desires
more characteristic of
what we love or hate.
Willing as impulse
becoming
Willing as drive
Willing as desire
later perhaps becoming
Willing as motivation
tending to give way in later years to
more reflective thinking
31. And yet –
active, deep within, beneath any
outward manifestation of our willing
lives a karmic willing for purpose,
clarity of purpose.
But often, like an experience
we cannot remember,
we can be asleep to it.
Weaving selfless f e e l i n g and loving inspiration
into our thinking and so influence our hidden will
paves the way for perceiving
the karmic thread being woven
by our enduring “I”.
