offer practical, experience and may also
include work experience placements and
internships. Relevant courses include City &
Guilds courses, BTEC HNC/HNDs, Foundation
degrees, first degrees and postgraduate
qualifications in media, film and TV
production or cinematography. Basic stills
photography, which develops visual and
composition skills, also provides a useful
starting point in training for this role.

required for Editors, FT2 (Film and Television
Freelance Training) provides industry
recognised training for all job roles, including
Editing, involving apprentice-style
attachments to professional crews, combined
with short course work experience and
training opportunities.

Administrative Runner Skills that a runner needs to be
able to work within the creative
industry are
Being able to complete chores
that may appear simple and basic
some essential skills are required
to take on the role
successfully. Runners must be
able to complete every task
efficiently and quickly, whilst also
paying attention to detail, and
using common sense and
initiative at all times. Perhaps
most important of all, Runners
must be able to take and carry
out instructions with humility,
good grace and enthusiasm, no
matter how apparently menial
the assigned duty. A 'can do'
attitude, stamina and drive are
all crucial.
Although there are no formal qualifications
required to become a Runner. Appropriate
personal skills and qualities are far more
important than an academic track
record. Work experience placements as a
Runner may also be useful. Any personal
experience of working on the production of
an amateur play, or short film, is likely to be
relevant. A full driving licence is the one
qualification considered essential for all
Runners. Any Health and Safety knowledge
or training is also useful.

Managerial Film Director Skills that a director need to be
able to work within the creative
industry consist of must have
exceptional artistic vision and
creative skills to develop an
engaging and original
film. Unerring commitment and
a deep passion for filmmaking
are essential, along with the
ability to act as a strong and
confident leader. Directors must
constantly make decisions, but
must also be able to delegate,
and to collaborate with
others. Excellent communication
and interpersonal skills are vital
to get the best from the
filmmaking team.
As there are several training courses and
formal qualifications they are not necessary
to become a Director. Studying the art and
craft of directing is important, but the role
can only really be mastered through in-depth
practical experience. Writing a screenplay,
directing one's own short film or an amateur
play, are all good starting places. Extensive
industry experience is also crucial to this role;
up-to-date knowledge of filmmaking
techniques and equipment is vital, as is
learning how to work with actors to create a
performance.

Assistant Accountants may possess a BA in
Accountancy, or vocational qualifications in
accounting (NVQs/SVQs), or otherwise be
able to demonstrate that they have acquired
the necessary level of competence through
work experience
