For their unit 21 evaluation, the student chose to do a photography exhibit. They originally wanted to include a variety of topics but decided to focus on one due to time constraints and lack of transportation options. They took around 50 photos and did minor editing on 2 images in Photoshop. The photos were inspired by the work of other artists but are the student's own ideas and choices. While the final exhibit did not entirely match the original plan due to location and topic limitations, the student is still pleased with the range of interesting images collected.

Unit 21 evaluation
1. Unit 21 Evaluation
For unit21 we were giventhe opportunitytochoose whatwe wantedtodo. We were giventhe
optionsof photography, amusicvideo, ashort film, ora printadvert.InitiallyIwantedtomake a
short filmbecause Ihadwatchedshort filmsfrompreviousyearsandtheywere interesting.After
planninganddeciding,Ichose photographybecauseitwasa subject Ienjoyedthe mostof all,
whereas filmingwas somethingIfeltIhadn’tenjoyed asmuch.
OriginallyI wasgoingtotake photos witha varietyof topicsandput themintoan exhibit. Idecided
not to dothisbecause I wasrunningout of time and if I wasto take photosof a varietyof topicsthen
I wouldhave neededtogoto lotsof differentlocationsoutside of school hours, whichwasnoteasy
due to not havingthe opportunityfortransport. Myfinal productdidnot turn outhow I wanteditto
be howeverI’mnotdisappointedbythe final outcome.IusedPhotoshoprarelyinmyfinal piece.
There are only2 imagesthatare editedandI feel happyaboutthisbecause originallyIdidn’twantto
have an exhibitconsistingof editedphotos.
For my pre-productionI researchedpopularartistsof topics:macro,landscape,architectural,
wildlife, andforcedperspective. The imagesfromthe artistsinspiredme andmade me take images
similartotheirs andgive me furtherideasformy final exhibit.DuringproductionI tookroughly50
photos,if notmore. I feel thattakingroughly50 photoshelpedme becauseIwasthenable to
choose outof a great range and selectthe best. Ialsofeel Icouldhave the usedthe time I had more
efficiently.Ifeel thatif Iwas able toorganise transportthenI couldhave had a greatercollectionof
interestingimages.Duringthe process,whenIdidsome editingonPhotoshop,I learntaboutsome
newtoolsI hadn’trealisedwhattheycoulddoandthat theycould adda lotmore interesttomy
images.Forexample Ilearntaboutthe tool ‘Hue/Saturation’.Thisallowedme to adjustthe colours
withinthe image.
BEFORE AFTER
ThroughoutmyproductionI ensuredItook the photographsmyself sothatmyfinal piece was
completelymyownideasandwork.EventhoughIaskedforinspirationfromothersIstill feelthat
the outcome of my exhibitismyowndecisions.
2. I feel myfinal piece isnotasgood as I wanteditto be mainlybecause Ididn’tsticktomy plan.
HoweverIdon’tthinkmyfinal piece isbadbecause Iwill still able togathera range of interesting
imagesthatcan potentiallybringattraction.
I’mglad I didn’teditall of myimagesbecause itpreventedme fromhavingalarge range of poor and
repetitiveediting. If Ihadeditedall myimagesthenIwouldhave runoutof techniquestouse when
editingcausingapotential lossininterestfromthe audience.
If I couldchange anythingitwouldbe the locationof myimages.UnfortunatelyI wasn’table tohave
the opportunityof transportto getme to a locationIfelthappywithtouse in my exhibition.
I alsowouldchange the topicof myphotos.AgainI waspreventedtodothisdue to not beingable to
gettransport that couldgetme to locationsthatwouldallow me tohave a wide range of intriguing
images.
