Adverbs of manner
The adverbs of manner describe how we do things and they go with verbs.
Look at the example sentences to know how to use them:

Past Simple of Irregular Verbs : affirmative
As you can see there is more
than one way to form the past
simple of these verbs. This is
why they are called irregular
verbs. This difference only
affects the affirmative, not the
negative or interrogative forms.
Past Simple of Irregular Verbs : negative and interrogative
Study how we form the negative of the Past Simple of the irregular verbs:
Subject + did + not + infinitive of the verb (base form)
Example : My sister did not forget my birthday party
(didn't)
And now look at more examples taken from the verbs in the affirmative list :
I didn't do You didn't put
He didn't see She didn't buy
It didn't take We didn't go
You didn't write They didn't have
Study how we form the interrogative of the Past Simple of the irregular verbs:
Did + subject + infinitive of the verb + ?
Example question: Did your sister forget your birthday party?
Short answers: Yes, she did // No, she didn't
And now look at more examples :
Did he see the crocodile? Yes, he did // No, he didn't
Did you write a letter? Yes, we did // No, we didn't
Did they go to the zoo? Yes, they did // No, they didn't
Time expressions
The time expressions for the irregular verbs are the same as for the regular verbs. (See
Grammar section of unit 9)
