4. INTRODUCTORY
• This presentation is high level view of the Greens
to help people understand how the Greens would
operate as a government.
6. GREEN ECONOMY
Source - https://www.greenparty.ca/en
• Subsidies? – The green party is referring
to tax deductions based on the tax
codes. Tax deductions are not subsidies
• Canada already has very high
environmental standards
• Elimination of flow through of shares
sound like communism. Business exists
to turn a profit. The prof are either
transfer to shareholders via dividends or
retained by the business for future
expansion
• Clean Technology loses nearly $4B/year/
Clean Technology benefits from direct
grants -

• Canada need a fair taxation,
environment, etc. systems as part of

7. CLIMATE CHANGE
Source – Green Party
Pollution taxes
Five of the 10 provinces do not want your gas grab aka carbon tax. If I
were Trudeau, then I would pull back the carbon tax and start looking at all
angles of policy including a broader discussion with the provinces.
There are already taxes on pollution -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/carbon-tax-and-
pollution-taxation-all-you-need-to-know-canada-april-2019
The Green Party never discuss the complete pass through of
the carbon tax and/or discuss the impact the carbon taxation
on small business. https://capforcanada.com/canadian-

tax/?fbclid=IwAR02rsYH4ht9Gw3ESA0MsI34UeLjjnZ6sFW40leA

8. GOVERNMENT
• Canada relies on foreign direct investment. Any restrictions on
ownership will impact FDI -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/infrastructure-and-
business-investment-canada-analysis
• No where is it mentioned balance budget bills
• No where is it mentioned the size of government including the
fiscal management cycle -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/fiscal-management-
cycle-surpluses-deficits-canada-harper-vs-trudeau
• Public Safety encompasses many areas, i.e. national defense
(NATO, UN), policing, borders, waterways, etc. -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/defense-spending-
canada-and-nato-february-2019
• Many governments have tried to be more open and transparent
but failed once they get to power -

government-justin-trudeau-and-the-liberals-april-2019
9. BLOG – GREEN PARTY
• Dan McLeod Do you understand tax code? Oil earns an income which is subjected to tax. Oil gets deductions for CCA, Royalties, payroll taxes, etc. So, where are these subsidies? Clean
Technology gets direct subsidies. I suggest you go read what a subsidy means and stop trying to say tax deduction are subsidies.
• Here is the annual report - https://www.suncor.com/investor-centre/financial-reports/annual-disclosure. Show in this report where there is direct business subsidy
• Direct Business subsidies is when a government gives a direct grant to a business - https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/subsidy.asp
• Government has given out direct subsidies to clean technology for years - https://www.forbes.com/sites/williampentland/2018/04/29/federal-subsidies-for-solar-and-wind-fell-sharply-in-
recent-years-says-new-report/#3d6c8611fa9a and you say nothing
• All businesses follow the ITA as part of eligibility for deduction.
• Auditor-General has called out failed hydro subsidies - https://business.financialpost.com/opinion/the-ontario-power-systems-broken-auditor-general
• 100% renewable? https://globalnews.ca/news/4207036/ontario-green-party-platform-conservation/ . Canada gets 80% of their power from clean sources. 100% would never work as it
would not be affordable.
• Tax Avoidance? Does this mean green will change the whole tax code? The party would also spend $4.1 billion over four years on mental health services, which they say they could help
pay for by improving collections and reducing tax avoidance?
• They would also mandate 20 per cent of units in new housing builds be affordable, expand the protected land known as the Greenbelt, and spend more money on transit. – There are
systemic issues with real estate including land, permits, construction costs - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/real-estate-canada-march-2019
• Old economy? “We need to skate to where the puck is going, and not where it’s been,” Leader Mike Schreiner said. “The other parties are clinging to an old economy, but we see a better
way forward – GDP is made up 30% goods producing. Goods producing jobs pay on average 40% more than service sector - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/canada-gdp-
january-2019
• . A centerpiece promise is a $4.2-billion program to give grants and loans to businesses and homeowners for energy conservation. – This will do nothing if hydro rates go through the
roof. There are already incentives via CCA and/or other options to business.
•
• I suggest stop believing everything you read as the information from pro-green firms is far from accurate in terms of how businesses operate based on tax, regulatory and accounting
reporting requirement.
10. RENEWABLE POWER
Source - https://www.greenparty.ca/en/policy/vision-green/climate/renewables
1. Canada generates 80% of their power from clean
sources
2. Green wants to solar, tidal and wind. Technology
needs to be both viable and cost effective -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/clean-
technology-canada-april-2019
3. Natural gas is required as part of power backup
4. Greens policy does not address issues facing rural
areas when it comes to power generation

Key Statements
• No pipelines
• End of carbon is no where in site
• Subsidizing clean technology – Clean technology loses billions (https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/2019-election-clean-technology-
and-climate-canada-june-2019 - See slide 7
• Eliminating tax deductions for oil and gas (https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/2019-election-natural-resources-canada-july-2019 - see
slide 14)
• Greens are just a version of the NDP if it moves tax it!
• How are those good policies for the economy? They are not!
• One thing is consistent with Huff Post that is continues to push the leftist agenda led by @ElizabethMay
• The reality not once has Ms. May discuss all angles of the environment, why? https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/2019-

12. CORPORATE TAX /
GREEN SUPPORTER
• Douglas Gray No it does not! Oil pays their taxes
and gets their tax deduction. Clean Tech gets
R&D and/other deductions like Oil and Gas. Clean
Tech loses money which means they do not pay
corporate taxation as there is no taxable income.

corporate-and-business-taxation-flows-to-
government
• The liberals are handling grant money out to
clean tech via SDTC - https://www.sdtc.ca/en/
• My advice to you is stop taking comments from
people that have never done a corporate tax
return in their life.
13. GREEN ECONOMY FAILURES
• Ontario implemented the green act which led to exodus of manufacturing jobs
and high hydro rates

14. ISSUES WITH CLEAN TECHNOLOGY
• Clean Technology needs to be viable without direct grants
• Subsidies like EV have done little to expand usage of EV -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/ev-electrical-vehicles-all-you-need-to-know-
238428364
• Wind, Solar, and EV Batteries require lithium, vanadium, cobalt, and rare metals. There is only so
much supply. The focus on energy should be in areas like smart grids or hydro electric or nuclear
or other sources of power. https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/raw-materials-clean-
technology-products

15. CANADA HAS JOB CRISIS
There is a job quality issue that was happening for the
past few yrs. COVID19 will lead to leaner mgmt. as
part of businesses trying to rebound

issues with employment -

failed-green-agenda-october-2019
16. SUMMARY
• Greens would destroy an economy as they feel shutting down Goods Producing sector (old) to clean
industries. The problem is goods producing sector is about 30% of GDP. Clean technology only accounts for
about 2% of GDP. https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/canada-gdp-january-2019
• Canada tax system is not perfect, but it is fair. Greens appear to want to hike taxes across the board to
subsidized their clean initiatives - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/social-spending-and-taxation-
globally or Wealthiest pay nearly 20% of the federal income tax -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/wealthiest-income-analysis-and-commentary-canada-2017 or
Canada middle class continues to struggle with new tax burdens -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/middle-class-and-justin-trudeau
• Canada already has some of the strongest environmental standards in the world -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/oil-and-the-environment-world-april-2019 or
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/environment-whats-next-canada
• Climate change is always changing. The Greens policy go way to far in terms of the environment, especially
since Canada is only 1.6% of global emissions. Greens ignored that Canada is a carbon sink and/or there are
already existing tax for pollution - https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/myths-and-realities-climate-
change-136948618
• Greens have no clue what it means to run a government in an efficient and effective manner -
https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/value-for-money-and-comprehensive-auditing-all-you-need-to-
know. Canada needs smaller and lean govt. There is no indication the Greens will either focus on
delivery/costing models or the size of government
• Transit policies are also weak. Transit systems across Canada rely on subsidies from government. The Greens
never discussed if they restore the transit tax credit. https://www.slideshare.net/paulyoungcga/monthly-
transit-analysis-and-commentary-january-2019
• Canada produces nearly 80% of its’ power from clean sources. The greens would phased out natural gas and
nuclear in favor of wind, solar, geothermal and tide. There is also no mentioned of hydro electric power -
