This document summarizes a survey conducted by Badrinathan & Kapur (UPenn) on how urbanization affects attitudes in the National Capital Region of India. The survey measured social change through attitudes, perceptions, behaviors and outcomes. It examined the impact of wealth, migration, demographics and politics on attitudes regarding caste, religion, gender and social interactions. The results showed that wealth increased social interactions, while migration decreased reported social behaviors but this was likely due to migrants having less access to diverse social networks in their segregated neighborhoods.
Women's History: How Well Do We Know America's Heroines?nwhm
A survey by the National Women's History Museum found that most Americans receive an "F" on their knowledge of women's history and are more familiar with notable male historical figures than female ones. Fewer than 25% of Americans consider themselves knowledgeable about notable women and their accomplishments. While women scored only slightly higher than men on questions about important female figures, both significantly underestimated statistics like the number of current female members of Congress and Fortune 500 CEOs. Younger generations believe their education focused more on gender equality, but millennials only scored slightly higher than older groups on women's history knowledge.
LGBT Latinos in the Social Justice Sexuality Project vs. U.S. Latina/ossocialjusticesexuality
This document summarizes findings from a survey of LGBT Latinos in the Social Justice Sexuality Project compared to data on the overall US Latino population. Key findings include: the SJS Latino sample was slightly older with a higher level of education compared to overall US Latinos. Most SJS Latinos felt unsupported by family in their LGBT identity. Issues of importance for LGBT communities of color included discrimination, racism, and HIV/AIDS. Health insurance rates and having a regular healthcare provider were lower for SJS Latinos compared to national data on all Latinos.
The document summarizes findings from a nationwide survey of LGBT Black men and women. It provides details on the research methods, demographics of the Black sample, topics examined including outness, spirituality, and community engagement. The key findings are that for Black respondents, being out to family and friends, considering oneself spiritual and engaging in religious activities, and being engaged in the LGBT community of color are all positively associated with mental health and happiness.
Methodological Issues when Conducting Research on LGBT People of Colorsocialjusticesexuality
This document discusses methodological challenges in conducting research on LGBT people of color populations. It notes that most other studies focus on one group, gender, couples, or use ethnographic or easier to measure samples that look the same. Probability samples require population estimates, but sexuality is fluid for LGBT people of color. The document proposes solutions like using non-probability sampling methods, knowing what is being measured as identity, behavior or attraction, and adding sexuality questions to national surveys.
The document summarizes the Social Justice Sexuality Project, which aims to document and celebrate the diversity of LGBT communities of color in the US. The study uses a purposive sampling strategy to sample over 5,500 people across 5 racial groups and in 5 topic areas. It employs multiple methods, including venue-based, respondent-driven, and snowball sampling at various Pride events and organizations across 50 states. The study aims to examine differences within and across racial groups on issues like health, discrimination, and family to provide a more complete picture of the issues facing diverse LGBT communities.
Social Justice Sexuality:Overview of a National Study of LGBT People of Colorsocialjusticesexuality
The document summarizes key findings from a national study of LGBT people of color in the United States. It discusses findings from the Latina/o sample of over 1,100 individuals, including that most reported having supportive families, religion being important to many, and feeling comfortable in their racial/ethnic and sexual identity communities. When seeking health information, medical professionals were the primary source, followed by the internet and family/friends. The internet was also important for over a third who used it at least weekly to engage with communities of color.

Issues with Census Data:
• Self enumerations may undercount specific groups
– Privacy issues, mistrust of government, and/or inability to locate may limit
participation by minorities, inner city residents, homeless, and transients.
– Reduces political representation and funding.
• Prisoners count as residents of the prison
– Prisoners are disproportionally adult minority males, skewing geographical
demographics.
– May add to political representation and funding in location of prison.
• Inter-census year data are estimates only
– Population changes are based on county birth and death data.
– County housing records are then used to allocate the population growth to individual
cities within each county.
– Creates large gaps between decennial headcounts relative to the prior year.
Demography
Issues with Census Data:
• Privacy
– Data is adjusted to preserve anonymity without sacrificing demographic patterns.
• Identities of respondents are removed.
• Income values are rounded off.
• Outliers are averaged together.
• Characteristics of respondents are swapped.
Researching Undocumented Immigrants
• Lowest estimates come from surveys since many are hesitant to reveal their
undocumented status out of fear of deportation.
• Medium estimates come from a residual approach that involves subtracting
legal immigrants from the entire foreign-born population in the U.S.
• Highest estimates come from Border Patrol extrapolations measuring arrests at
the border; however, these are biased since the same individual may be
arrested multiple times.
• Accurate counts are critical!
– Undocumented residents count for congressional apportionment
– Allows for better cost/benefit analysis of migrants and policy prescriptions.

This document summarizes research on the relationship between religion, fertility rates, and population growth. It finds that in Muslim-majority countries, higher national religiosity is associated with lower fertility rates, unlike in other developing nations. Religious groups within Muslim countries tend to have higher fertility. However, the effect is modest, and religious population growth is a long-term process unlike in Israel. Younger, more educated Muslims are less religious, though the effect of education on Islamism is complex. Urbanization may increase Islamic beliefs. Overall, Muslim societies are expected to follow a distinct trajectory of modernization rather than secularization. Future research on religious population projections is proposed.

This document summarizes research conducted by the Cisneros Center for New Americans on the experiences of immigrant communities in Northwest Arkansas. Through community forums and feedback sessions with over 300 immigrants, the research found that while immigrants appreciate employment opportunities and education, they face significant barriers to services due to high costs, language access issues, and lack of awareness. Recommendations included expanding orientation programs, affordable services like childcare, and addressing the specific needs of communities like the Marshallese. Service organizations reported needing more resources to provide translation and outreach. Regional leaders saw a need for greater workforce training and transportation access for diverse communities.
The grant proposal requests $831.96 to fund a youth engagement program between the Whitney Pier Boys and Girls Club and the Ally Club of Cape Breton's LGBT Resource Center. How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

Un Sitio Donde Ellos Viven, Como Ellos Viven: LGBT Latinos & the Social Justice Sexuality Project
1. Eastern Sociological Society Meeting February 24, 2012 Carlos M. Camacho, CUNY-Graduate Center Alexis Espinoza, Hunter College “ Un Sitio Donde Ellos Viven, Como Ellos Viven: LGBT Latinos & the Social Justice Sexuality Project”
First, special thanks to…organizers of Creating Change… our funders, Arcus….
Our study - For the Latino population, “La Familia” is an important social structure. Following, we see religion, such as Virgen Guadalupe as a symbol of latino. Portraying the latino community as religious, in particular “catholic”. Therefore we want to know how this affects outness among LGBT latinas/os. Let us not forget that currently there is a debate on Defense of the Marriage Act, which uses religion as a basis. Driving our interest to looking at religion and its effect on outness on LGBT latinos, especially since they are portrayed as religious. http://www.flickr.com/photos/diego-fg/4609958934/ Rene de Calle 13 http://www.flickr.com/photos/justoutpdx/5727292753/ M Necklace http://www.flickr.com/photos/nathaninsandiego/5944794302/in/photostream/ USN http://www.flickr.com/photos/justoutpdx/5978958468/in/set-72157627287849682 dancing duo http://www.flickr.com/photos/justoutpdx/5727343951/in/set-72157626612469033/ crowd shot
Since we are using the same data, we will not reiterate what our colleague very eloquently covered. The gathering - 2009 - 1) researching, raising money, 2) piloted. This is how we did it - online, venue based events, partners. Goal was to get people who would not necessarily go to gay pride, but may be a gay rodeo or senior event or religious event. Started with N=5,500 -> 4963 due to respondent fatigue [didn’t finish], lack of integrity [in response - not taking survey seriously] Online - 18% Paper - 82% http://www.flickr.com/photos/justoutpdx/5727339221/in/photostream 3 guys taking survey
We will go on to remind you that the data was gathered from all 50 states The survey reach: All 50 states Image from here: http://geology.com/state-map/maps/usa-map.jpg

Once again, the origional sample was 5500 In contrast, the SJS study has a total sample size of 5,500 (down to 4,963). It covers a range of 5 groups - diverse in terms of racial/ethnic group, age, gender, relationship status, sexual orientation & gender ID, and 5 broad topic areas. We used a purposive sample, ideal for a study of this kind where random sampling would systematically exclude people of color and disproportionately include white people.

As mentioned at the beginning our purpose is to see wha predicts outness. We are focusing on the effect that family support has and religion. We will of course look at demographic variables as well.
