             jamiaca when the local people
             refused to give him food.According
to the story he waited for the eclipse
             that he knew was coming.Then
columbus said that the gods had
taken the moon away because they
were angry. He received food from
             the horriefied locals.

         ● When the ancient chinese saw a
             solar eclipse,they believed that a
dragon was trying to swallow the
sun they set off fireworks and
banged gongs to scare it away.
Court astronomers had the job of
             predicting eclipses. More than two
             thousand years ago the brothers
His and Ho were court astronomers.
