Human Powered Vehicle

This project was directed towards making a vehicle powered by the human efforts. Human
Powered vehicle is a great solution to deal with the ever-increasing energy crisis due to scarcity
of fuel resources in today's scenario. One of the most sigriificant aspect of this project is that the
vehicle does not use any {rpe of fuel for its operation.
The core concept of this project instigated from the idea that the human activities are overloading
the affiosphere with carbon dioxide and other global warming emissions which frap heat,
steadily drive up the planet's temperaftre and create significant and harmful impacts on our
healttr, environment and climate. The vehicle uses torque fransmitting levers, a kinematic chain
linkage. Linkage is constructed from open chains, closed chains and combination of both. The
sprocket is cormected to the gears which fansmis the power to another sprocket. This second
sprocket is connected to the axle through chain mechanism. The vehicle employs a Pitnan Arm
Type Steering system which is operated using pin joints on the lever. Some of the advantages
include health benefits, cheaper construction, Low power requirements, High speed low weight
vehicle, Simple design,Independent starting and Low maintenance.
Furthermore, the project was supported and assisted by hof. Nitin Shrivastava, Faculty
Mechanical Department, UIT-RSfV. The project took around 7 months starting from June 2014
till February 2015.

Improving Efficiency of Air Compressor in a Gun Carriage Factory

This project was directed towards the improving efficiency of an air compressor in a gun
carriage factory. Practically, every industy, worldwide depends on compressed air in varying
degrees to support one or more of its process improving the efficiency of the air compressor
system increases the overall output.
The core idea of the project is to improve efficiency of an air compressor in a gun carriage
factory, For this project the Gun Carriage Factory at Jabalpur was taken under consideration.
Some of the observations recorded to that can increase air compressor system efficiency are: use
of after cooler and dryer in air compressor, use of PPCH pipes which are specially designed for
pneumatic system, use of calibrated gauges and leakage detectors, use of water softening plant.
On successful implementation of the above steps in pneumatic system the results showed a
significant increase in the air compressor unit efficiency.
Furthermore, the project work and the literatrne $rvey was supported and assisted by Mr. Vivek
Sharm4 I.O.F.S, Gun Carriage Factory, Jabalprr, Madhya Pradesh and Mr. Ajay Ghosh,
Coordinator of Air compression system in Gun Carriage Factory, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The
