2. My first impressions of the work are fairly straightforward, the design is quite minimalist in nature; there is no
colour involved just tones of off-white, grey and black.I feel that this is a fairly powerful design to start with.
The composition of the work is also quite strong; the word is placed in the dead centre of the image and behind
it can be found a very faint wave that runs through the image; almost as if it is joining the letters together. The
same wave shape can be found at the bottom of the image above a link to the artists portfolio, which adds a
small sense of symmetry in the image.

3. The subject matter itself is undeniably a large one. The word is “LIFE”; something that everyone is currently
experiencing and fully aware of, but also something that is extremely varied and subjective; the word “Life”
could have significantly different connotations to different people, making the subject matter a very interesting
and powerful one. I find the fact that the image is so minimal and bold adds to the power of this, given the
extremely complex subject matter.

4. The creative idea and messages conveyed by the work make it that much more clever and intriguing. The word
life is made up of 99 Emotions and Sensations that I assume the artist believes covers the span of emotions
that make up a persons life. This is a very clever concept and adds a very powerful sentiment to such a
visually simple artwork.

5. I believe the effect was achieved through simple but tedious techniques of making a multitude of text boxes
and carefully arranging them and resizing the font in order to make up each letter. I also feel that certain words
such as “Love”, “Lust” and “Friendship” have purposely been enlarged to become the centre of attention in the
image as these are often considered the basis of a positive life for most people.
The font face is the same throughout, a gothic, crisp font all in capitals. Letter spacing appears to be the same
throughout also; leaving only the font size altered.
