Sample:
Sample is a product which represents a group of product, in order to
assess their quality, style or design of the product. Based on the
samples, the buyer will give approval or comments for any alteration in
design or style or quality. Samples will reflect the quality and
workmanship of the manufacturer. Samples are made to make sure to
get a desired style design or fit and good quality in the particular order.
Reference Sample:
Customer sent a sample to the manufacturer during the
design stage along with technical specifications .This
sample is used as a reference for production of new
garment. Supplier can choose the correct material and can
also understand required quality parameters by reviewing
this garment. Sample should be returned back to customer
with first proto.

Knit Down:
These are small sized knitted fabric swatches that are sent to
customer for approval of yarn and fabric construction.

Mock up Sample:
Mock up is partial garment or detail panel to show
construction.
This is used for thread approval, wash or accessory approval.

Fit Sample:
This is first sample that is made on basis of reference sample
and specifications given by customer.
Sample can be prepared by using available fabric with same
fabric structure , nearer GSM , in any color and with available
accessory.
Sample is used to check fit of particular style.

Proto Sample/Red seal sample:
Proto is made after fit sample approval with actual fabric and
trims and in any color.
This is also called red seal sample because this has been
approved for fabric and trims and is used as production reference.

Photo Shoot Sample:
Photo shoot samples are required for the product catalogue that are
presented by customer at their own retail houses.
Catalogue have the detail about the products like their style,
assortments and price ranges, and also have the pictures of the model
who wear those garments.
Required sample size is indicated by customer according to model.
Photo shoot sample is prepared in all order colors.

Size set Sample:
Patterns are prepared in all sizes on the basis of approved pattern
for proto sample.
Grading technique is used to make patterns in all required sizes.
Size set samples are made in all sizes to check the fit.
Without size set approval cutting can not be started.

Pre Production Sample:
This is also called trial run sample which is made before starting
the bulk production to check the feasibility of sewing operation
during bulk production.
Pre production sample is made to check workmanship and
quality parameters like puckering at high speed operation.
It is important for bulk orders because all other samples are
made in sampling sections at low speed as compared to
production.

Production Sample:
This sample is taken from bulk production and sent to customer
for approval.
This is also called gold seal sample and final inspection is based on
the approval of production sample.

Shipment Sample:
Shipment sample is sent to customer when final inspection is
passed and goods are ready for shipment.
This sample is in packed form with all packaging accessories. This
will represent the product that will receive by customer and sell on
the stores.
