Measurement
• Measurement is the process of assigning the
numbers or symbols to the attributes or
characteristics of a certain variable.
Measurement
• It is easy to assign numbers in respect of
properties of some objects like weight,
biological age or a person’s financial assets,
but it is relatively difficult in respect of others.
For instance, measuring such things as social
conformity, intelligence, or marital adjustment
is comparatively difficult.
Types of Measurement
• Qualitative Measurement
• Quantitative Measurement
Qualitative Measurement
• Qualitative research mostly uses descriptive
statements to seek answers to the research
questions. So, it applies qualitative
measurement.
• Qualitative measurement usually deals with
textual data or words
Quantitative Measurement
• whereas in quantitative research these
answers are usually sought on one of the
measurement scales (nominal, ordinal,
interval
• or ratio).
