AMBIENT
LIGHTING
• Bright, powerful illumination that lights up a room in its entirety…
General lighting, or now mostly known as “ambient” lighting is
made for a single purpose: to provide you with uniform levels of
illumination over the entire space completely
independently from other lighting sources.
• Creating a strong ambient illumination through “bounce” and
reflections off the walls, thus ensuring safe and easy navigation
as its primary purpose.
• Fixtures most often used to supply general, ambient lighting
are:
1. Ceiling mounted fixtures
2. LED downlights
3. Track lights
4. Wall-Mounted Fixtures
5. Floor Lamps

TASK
LIGHTING
• These are the focused type of lights that we need to perform
any specific task like reading, stitching, cutting, cooking, etc.
This lighting type is more directed and has to adequately
provide the light required for the proper performance of an
activity.
• This type of light should be so placed that it does not cast
placed next to a person or hung above the worktop. Ideally, it
pool of light without glare. It should be as close to natural light in
rendering. Also, the light should not strain our eyes
• A table lamp on your reading desk, an LED strip under the
hanging pendant light over your island workstation, all come
category of light in interior design.
TASK LIGHTING
ACCENT
LIGHTING
• These types of lights emphasize or accentuate a design
element in a space. It could be a textural wallpaper, a
gorgeous painting, a botanical plant, an elegant
sculpture, an architectural element, or any other special
feature that you wish to highlight.
• Have you ever noticed that sometimes when we enter a
space the first thing we notice is that sculptural plant
kept in a corner or we are immediately drawn up to that
impressive ceiling? Well, that’s exactly what an
accent type of light does to interiors. It draws our
attention to the feature element or the focal point
• Accenting an element with a more subtle, diffused, and
indirect type of lighting from back or below would
produce a much more pleasing effect than in a harsh and
obvious spotlight type of manner. Interior design
lights create a delicate texture and shadow effect which
enhances the form and style of an object. It pulls our
focus and layers the whole scene.
ACCENT LIGHTING
DECORATIV
E LIGHTING
• These are the decorative types of light fixtures that help
enhance a space and its style by their mere presence,
even if they are in an off position. These are not
necessarily always light sources. Don’t you adore wearing
accessories and jewelry with your favorite dress, to
enhance the look? Similarly, These interior designer
lights help to emphasize the style we are trying to achieve
in a space.
• A woven basket type of light fixture for cottage style, a
sleek, transparent glass chandelier for a modern style,
something very rugged like a light in a cage with a chain
for industrial style, and a crystal chandelier or lights with
simulated candles for a more traditional style…
• These days types of lights with a mid-century appeal are
also very popular. Basically, the types of light fixtures in
this category would include chandeliers, wall sconces,
pendant lights, table lamps, etc. Anything that is visible
and has a physical presence in the space.

indirect lighting
Cornice lighting :

hidden beneath so to direct light downward
only
• Gives dramatic effect on drapery n pictures
COVE LIGHING :

fluorescent tubes in a groove along one or
more walls of room about 12 inches from
the ceiling
• The light reflects off the ceiling and bathes
the room of indirect lights
Track lighting :
• Track lighting consists of lamps fixed to ceiling
or wall in an array to offer great variety
• One strip often holds spot light floodlights and
even handing fixtures
Soffit lighting :

or under a cabinet
LED lights are the sustainable and eco-friendly
alternatives to incandescent bulbs. Our LED
bulbs use only a fraction of the energy that
conventional bulbs and lamps use and last 20 times
longer; they can even function at temperatures up to
40°C. Our FORMAT LED lamp is an ideal cabinet
lamp, lighting up the inside and creating a warm
atmosphere. Our LEDARE LED lights collection has
a dimmable feature allowing you to control the
intensity of light you desire, whether it's for bright
lighting for the room or concentrated light to read.

discharge, HID, or arc light).

fluorescent light. Standard fluorescent lights are
available in tubes (generally 48 to 84 inches in
length). CFLs are much smaller
