There are several types of libraries including private collectors' libraries owned by individuals or institutions, public libraries that are accessible to the public and funded by taxes, school/college/university libraries for educational institutions, state and national libraries that serve as repositories for published works within a geographic area but are usually not public, research libraries with in-depth information on subjects, reference libraries where resources must be used on-site and are not lent out, and digital libraries accessible by computer that can fit into the other classifications.
