WHY COLUMNS FAIL:
 We know, Columns are made up of two major materials
concrete and steel. Architect do calculate total stress caused
by dead load and live load on the entire building to design its
internal components (Beam, Column, Slab etc.). So, if the
applied stress exceeds the allowable stress then the
structure start to fail.

 COMPRESSION FAILURE
 BUCKLING FAILURE
1. COMPRESSION
FAILURE:
 when the axially loaded stress of a column exceeds its
allowable stress then column start to fail. This type of
failure is known as Compression failure.

2. BUCKLING FAILURE:
 If the least lateral dimension of a column is grater than 12, and
its slenderness ratio is grater than 30, then in such conditions
columns start to buckling. This type of failure are known as
Buckling failure.
