Lesson plan: Types of Angles
Grade Level: 3
Prepared by: Sahar Hamzah and Rasha Koleilat
Duration:3 hours (1 hour each plan)
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson learners will be able to:
1. Name the four angles.
2. Indicate the types of angles on a pizza.
3. Differentiate between the sizes of the angles.
Plan A: Learners are introduced to the four types of angles by watching the
video.
Learners watch the video several times in order to memorize the song; then they
are asked to sing along with the teacher.
The teacher asks the learners the following questions:
1) How many angles did you see in the video?
2) Name these angles?
3) How many pizza slices are needed to form each type of angle?
As an application, they are then asked to work on the following worksheet:
 Guess the type of the angle below:
1) I am formed by one pizza slice: ____________ ___________
2) I am formed by 4 pizza slices:____________ _____________
3) I am formed by 3 pizza slices:___________ ______________
4) I am formed by 2 pizza slices:____________ _____________
Plan B: The teacherbrings a pizza to class (realor plastic) to explain the sizes
of eachtype of angle.
The teacher and the learners sing the song together to recall the types of angles.
The teacher then shows several number of pizza slices.
The teacher then holds:
1) One slice and asks a learner to name the angle it represents.
2) Two slices and asks a learner to name the angle it represents.
3) Three slices and asks a learner to name the angle it represents.
4) Four slices and asks a learner to name the angle it represents.
As an application, they are then asked to work on the following worksheet:
 Name the shaded angle shownbelow and saywhy:
___________________ __________________
______________piece_ __________________
___________________ _____________________
___________________ _____________________
Plan C: The teacherdivides the class into 4 groups. Then she asks eachgroup
to bring a pie or cake divided into 8 pieces to the class, so that they canapply
what they learned about angles so far.
Each group sings the song which they learned from the video.
The teacher asks each group to show a specific type of angle using what they
brought:
1) Group A: show me an acute angle.
2) Group B: show me a right angle.
3) Group C: show me an obtuseangle.
4) Group D: show me a straight angle.
As an application, they are then asked to work on the following worksheet:
 Find and Color:
1. Find an Acute Angle and color it Yellow
2. Find an Obtuse Angle and color it Green
3. Find a Straight Angle and color it Blue
4. Find an Right Angle and color it Red
