WORK EXPERIENCE
Online Shopper / Assistant manager
HyVee - Kearney, NE - August 2015 to January 2016
Responsibilities
I started as an online shopper. where under very little supervision or guidance we would shop and fulfill grocery
orders for customers online. After shopping we would bag said groceries appropriately by food type and type
examples being dry, refrigerated and frozen, then we were responsible for tendering out the order charging the
customer for their order then it was either delivered or picked up. After doing this for only a month I was offered
the assistant store manager position. my responsibilities increased ten fold as did my duties. I was in charge
of the cashiers and courtesies letting them know where to work and delegating the daily cleaning and cart
retrieving, providing excellent customer service for any complaints or grievance, extensive register training,
check authorization codes, closing wine and spirits, we had keys to the store, safe codes, money handling and
reporting. one assistant would run the front of the store and anothr would run the back, it alternated who did
what. The back consisted of walking the store finding product that was running low and then locating these
products in the back room and then front and facing said product along side courtesies assigned by the front
end manager to help. After 6 or 7 the assistant managers become the highest level present and so at times
myself and another assistant were in charge of 60 people at times.
Accomplishments
I became assistant manager at the end of September so one of my biggest achievements I would say is being
in a position of management during the very busy holiday season, it was very intense and I had to be quick on
my feet, prepared for anything with not much time to get a good solid couple months to feel it out. I responded
admirably I would say made it through the holidays and learned a lot along the way. I was well liked and
respected among the cashiers and courtesies those that I directly managed. I was fair, honest and up front
with them and they responded better to me for it.
Skills Used
General management skills: making a plan, delegating tasks, directing, correcting and training employees in
a manner that will make successful long term workers. quick thinking, fair judgement and being unbiased,
register operations, money counting, clearing checks, wic transactions. running the back consisted more of
time management find ing the products that most needed to be out on the shelf provided the time of year some
products sell better than others, it was upon us to figure that out and keep our customers happy.
