Where Is Earth Camp?

▪ Earth Camp, Gopeng
▪2-3 hours NW of KL
▪Earth Camp has accommodation and facilities built
largely from re-purposed materials….
▪- dormitories - greenhouses
▪- bathrooms - cylindrical water tanks
▪- furniture - recycled parts of the old climbing wall
▪Excellent waste water management and rain water
harvesting.

Dormitories called
‘Green Houses’
20 students
in each.
Toilets, washbasins
and showers are
close to the
dormitories
Concrete floors,
water resistant
blinds, fans, camp
beds and
electric lights.
Girls and Boys
will sleep in
separate
dormitories
Pupils will need a sheet/silk sleeping bag, pillow and towel.
Buildings have been
constructed in an
environmentally
friendly manner

What will we be doing?
Monday: Travelling, arriving and settling in to Earth Camp; safety
and activity briefings
Tuesday: Group A : Flat Water Rafting and Water Safety Skills
Group B : Mountain School—rope and obstacle courses
Wednesday: Group A : Mountain School—rope and obstacle courses
Group B : Flat Water Rafting and Water Safety Skills
Thursday: AM - Group A : Caving Adventure at Gua Tempurung
Group B : Trekking activity
PM - Groups swap activities
Friday: Farewell to Earth camp and travel back to BIS.
A typical day…
Wake up shower then breakfast.

Health…
• All medicine will be kept and administered by Ms
Kirstine - nurse!
• Medicines should be labelled with your child’s name, the
dosage and time of day it should be taken. A letter
should accompany this, hand to Ms Kirstine on 22/5/17.
Children should NOT keep medicine (except an inhaler).
• BIS & Earth Camp staff includes qualified First Aiders.
• Hospital - Gopeng: 15 minute drive
- Kuala Lumpur (International): 2 hour drive
• Travel Insurance has been arranged for each student.

Vietnam visas / Residence cards should be given in as well.
Individuals requiring Malaysian entry visa should have arranged
that already. This should be in the passport when it is given in.

• All forms (medical / liability forms) are
returned by Friday, fully completed.
• Passports handed in (with any visas /
