1) The document analyzes cargo traffic trends at Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Mumbai Port from 2004-2014 using a least squares method time series analysis.
2) It calculates trend values for each port and finds that while both show positive growth, Jawaharlal Nehru Port has larger trend values and is forecast to handle more cargo (74.34 million tonnes vs 65.11 million tonnes) in 2015.
3) By comparing the trend values on a graph, it determines that Jawaharlal Nehru Port remains the biggest container shipping port in India.
The document discusses the need to change the website for the R Project for Statistical Computing. It notes that the current website has been in use since ancient Greek times and that new R users find it intimidating. The document then lists several technical problems with the current website such as obsolete code, lack of SEO tags, poor CSS, and a complex structure. It proposes creating a new user interface to solve current problems and restructuring the site map. The technologies involved would include Webby and Ruby on Rails and the source code would be made freely available under GPL. It closes with a call for volunteers to help with new features and restructuring.
This document presents a study analyzing male and female literacy rates in India. It examines literacy data from 10 Indian states, calculating mean, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation to determine that male literacy is higher and more stable than female literacy. Additional data from 10 more states is also analyzed, with the same result. The conclusion suggests that while male literacy is better, female literacy remains inconsistent and could be improved through educational programs and free education initiatives.

Data-Driven Decision Making in Addressing Study Abroad BarriersCIEE
Data drives decision-making at the highest levels of institutional leadership. This session will use a case of one institution to explore how its global education center collaborates with its institutional research office to determine barriers to studying abroad and compete for campus resources. Using actual data, panelists will guide roundtable discussions on moving from anecdotal observations through data analysis to policy decisions by senior administrators. Information will be provided about how to work with data, what types of data your institutional research office can provide, and how a chief academic officer makes decisions on academic priorities and resource allocation.
Creativity and critical thinking in schools - Andreas SchleicherEduSkills OECD
This presentation was given by Andreas Schleicher at the conference “Creativity and Critical Thinking Skills in School: Moving a shared agenda forward” on 24-25 September 2019, London, UK.
- The document appears to be an initial report from a student enrolled in an online course, providing background information and responses to survey questions.
- The student has some interest in design thinking but no direct experience, and this is their first online course. They were motivated to enroll due to personal interest in the subject and wanting to learn new skills.
- The student expressed openness to failure as important for learning, and confidence in their ability to be creative with practice. Their main concerns about the online course are that it is their first time and they are somewhat shy about online teamwork.
This document discusses measuring the impact of women in leadership positions in India. It presents a theory of change where reservations for women in local government lead to more female leaders whose preferences and priorities differ from male leaders. Data is presented measuring each step of this theory, including administrative data on reservations, transcripts from village meetings on issues raised by men and women, and village surveys measuring public investments in areas preferred by women, like drinking water and education. The results show reservations significantly increase female leadership and that areas with more women leaders invest relatively more in issues preferred by women. This supports the hypothesis that putting more women in power can impact public spending priorities.
STEM Students Abroad: Understanding their Motivations and ExperiencesCIEE
This session will focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) students' motivations for studying abroad and the value of their experiences. With STEM fields underrepresented in study abroad, we hope to share student stories that encourage future STEM students to take the leap. Survey data from STEM student feedback will highlight: why STEM students study abroad, types of experiences, skills gained abroad for future careers or academic pursuits, perceived barriers to studying abroad, and ways to meet those challenges. Part of the session will focus on learning more about academic advisor perspectives on STEM students studying abroad, including benefits and challenges.
