The complex needed a retaining wall to create a road and parking area on a 15m unstable slope. Conventional concrete walls would be too expensive and prone to cracking, while segmental walls would be complicated. The solution was a unique design using PRS-Neoloy geocells, with 3 terraced walls up to 15m high on the 75 degree slope. The geocell walls provided global stability, flexibility to withstand earth movements per seismic codes, and a long lifespan, at a lower cost than traditional options.
