This document is an introduction by Dr. Liam Doyle to an impressionistic study of his friend Julian Palmer. Doyle notes that he first met Palmer in college in 2004, and that Palmer quickly became known for his eccentric behavior and interests. Doyle states that in order to truly understand Palmer, one must observe him as a stranger would to gain scientific detachment, as Doyle has found himself adopting Palmer's mannerisms over time. He warns that this should not be considered a definitive empirical study, but merely glimpses into the puzzling Palmer that raise more questions than answers.
