This document discusses the key of David vision that was revealed to Herbert W. Armstrong. It describes how Mr. Armstrong discovered new truths about prophecy but the Sardis era church he was associated with refused to accept or preach these revelations, even though the church leader acknowledged they were from God. This rejection caused that church to die spiritually. The key of David vision involves understanding that true Christians will help rule under Christ during His Kingdom, but it was an opportunity the Sardis church failed to seize.
According to the Bible, the key issue facing mankind is sin (i.e. missing the mark that God has set for us). This presentation outlines how mankind lost its way from the original creation, the consequences of sin (the worst consequence being the separation from God) and God's salvation plan (through which God reconciles mankind to Himself through the full and final work of Jesus on the Cross). This salvation is free. But missing this could cost you etern
The document discusses the characteristics of enlightened believers. It says they must no longer live as the Gentiles do in futile thinking, and that the Gentiles are darkened in understanding and separated from God due to ignorance. However, believers were taught the truth about Jesus and how to put off their old selves and be made new. Enlightened believers possess sincere love, imitate Christ, grow spiritually, have humble character, and are transformed.
Session 8 Overcoming through Intercessory Prayer pptOs Hillman
This document discusses the concepts of authority, intercession, and identificational confession. It emphasizes that God has given authority and responsibility to mankind to fulfill His redemptive plan and enforce His covenants on Earth. Effective intercession requires identification, agony/travail, and exercising authority. The inner court role of intercession is key to defeating spiritual enemies and seeing breakthrough in the physical realm. Examples are given of biblical figures like Moses, Jesus and Joseph who powerfully interceded. Transformation of cities and regions starts with repentance, prayer, humility, unity and knowing God's ways.
God calls Israel to be a holy nation at Mount Sinai. He reminds them that He brought them out of Egypt and carried them on eagles' wings. God tells Israel that if they listen to Him and keep His covenant, they will be His treasured possession. God calls Israel to be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. This calling applies to Christians as well, who are now God's chosen people.

Rather than wasting sufferings, times of suffering can be opportunities for personal growth.
Overcoming temptation and hard times in the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. He was full of the Spirit when he began and he went through the temptation in the power of the Holy Spirit.
The document discusses the Jewish marriage custom and its parallels to developing a "bridal character" as Christians await Christ's return. It explains that in the Jewish tradition, a bride underwent a 12-month beauty treatment including 6 months with myrrh and 6 months with perfumes and cosmetics to prepare her for marriage. Spiritually, this represents a two-part process for Christians of undergoing trials to put the "old nature" to death, followed by immersing oneself in God's love, thanksgiving, prayer and other "sweet odors" to become beautiful for Christ. The document encourages Christians to go through this "bridal bath" to properly prepare as a spotless bride for Christ's return.
The document provides an in-depth analysis of the Lord's Prayer, examining each line and petition. It discusses how the prayer was taught by Jesus to his disciples and summarizes the key Christian teachings. The Lord's Prayer is presented as the fundamental prayer of Christianity that expresses humility, trust in God, and asks for divine help and deliverance from evil. Several Church fathers and saints are cited for their insights into the meaning and significance of the prayer.
The book of Jonah is about the prophet Jonah being called by God to preach to Nineveh but initially running away. God causes a storm and Jonah is thrown overboard, after which he is swallowed by a large fish. Jonah prays and is spit out on land, where he goes to Nineveh and preaches repentance. The people of Nineveh believe Jonah's message and God spares the city. However, Jonah is unhappy that God showed mercy to Nineveh and sits outside the city waiting to see what will happen. God teaches Jonah about mercy through the parable of a plant growing over Jonah to give him shade and then dying, leaving Jonah unhappy again.
Session 2 Your Work Matters to God by Os HillmanOs Hillman
This document discusses developing a theology of work. It argues that work is important to God and was impacted by the fall of man. It suggests that the local church should equip believers to do ministry in their daily work through destroying the works of the devil. The document advocates that work can be a form of worship and ministry when done with excellence for God's purposes of meeting human needs, having platform to influence culture, and caring for the poor.
God is faithful and faithfulness is his character. He cannot contradict himself or do wrong as there is no variation in him. Faithfulness is God's covenant to his people and his assurance to believers. The same standard of faithfulness is required of believers. Unfaithfulness has consequences like being scattered from one's land and facing famine. Knowing the dangers of unfaithfulness, one should commit to being faithful to God and make adjustments if currently unfaithful.
The document analyzes the final four petitions of the Lord's Prayer: asking for daily bread, forgiveness of sins, deliverance from temptation and evil. It explains that these petitions address the desires of the Christian heart by teaching us to ask boldly yet dependently on God for our basic needs, confession of sinfulness, victory over evil, and healing. Each petition is examined in one or two sentences with emphasis on our reliance on God and involvement in broader human struggles.
God showed Paul immense grace and mercy by appointing him to serve despite his past sins of blasphemy and persecution. This passage teaches that 1) there is hope for salvation even for the worst of sinners, 2) God can use anyone regardless of their past, and 3) Jesus came to save sinners and offer eternal life to all. The conclusion exhorts the reader to work hard in service and respond to God's grace with their time, talents, and treasures.
Paul preached in Thessalonica using his typical strategy of first going to the local synagogue on the Sabbath. There, he used Old Testament prophecies to show that the Messiah was prophesied to suffer before entering into glory. Some Jews and prominent Greeks believed, forming the core of the new church. The church grew to include Gentiles from various classes. Paul's approach demonstrated how to start where people are spiritually and use familiar concepts like the Messiah to share the gospel.

This document discusses the concept of time and how believers can exercise dominion over time through faith. It begins by defining time and noting that while time causes pressure for many, believers are meant to operate above time. It provides several biblical examples of figures like Jesus, Elisha, Hezekiah and Joshua manipulating time through faith - moving time forward to raise Lazarus, turning a famine around in a day, moving a sundial's shadow backward as a sign of healing, and commanding the sun to stand still for a battle. The key point is that through faith, believers can override time and its pressure, as time is a tool created by God to be under human dominion.

Whatever Happened to the Prayer MeetingPeter Hammond
The document discusses the decline of the prayer meeting in many Western churches. It notes that prayer meetings were once a central part of church life but are now rarely held or attract few members. The author argues this decline is due to churches prioritizing other activities like music and television over prayer and evangelism. The author advocates for restoring prayer as a regular practice, citing numerous Bible passages about the importance and power of prayer.
The document discusses the importance and power of prayer in the church and for Christians. It notes that prayer meetings used to be a central part of church life but have declined in many Western churches today. When the author was first converted, their local church had vibrant weekly prayer meetings, men's meetings, and outreach events, but these were suspended due to conflicts with television viewing. The document advocates that prayer, studying the Bible, and evangelism should be core priorities and activities for all Christians and churches. It provides many examples from the Bible of the emphasis on prayer and how prayer strengthened the early church.
Prayer can take many forms and be done anywhere at any time. It is important for connecting with God through direct address, conversation, and seeking God's presence. While there are no set rules, prayer is commonly done kneeling, bowing, with hands spread out, or standing. Christians should pray regularly to strengthen their faith, seek God's will, bring them closer to God, and ask for help, wisdom and healing for themselves and others.

This document provides an overview of worship during the time between the exile and restoration of the Jewish people. It discusses how the temple was destroyed by Babylon despite prophetic warnings, but God promised restoration. During the exile, Jewish leaders adapted their worship to corrupt cultural practices. After the exile, rebuilding of the temple was delayed as the people's attention was diverted by worldly concerns. Prophets like Haggai and Zechariah urged the people to focus on God and complete the temple to fulfill their destiny.
1) Revivals are sovereign moves of God initiated by the Holy Spirit that result in spiritual transformation. They typically begin with a deeper appreciation of God's holiness and conviction of sin.

The document discusses the true meaning and purpose of prayer according to the Heavenly Doctrines. It explains that while instinctive prayer is natural to all living things, humans must learn how to pray from the Lord through His teachings. The Lord's Prayer teaches people how to pray for spiritual things rather than just physical needs. True prayer requires turning to the Lord from the heart and asking for things that align with His divine order and wisdom. When people pray from faith and love for the Lord, He answers in ways that promote their spiritual well-being and growth.

4 how can i know god's will for my lifeRamesh Babu
God's will for mankind is for people to be reconciled with God through Jesus Christ and to grow in love and knowledge. There are three prerequisites for knowing God's will: communion with God through prayer, having a consecrated life dedicated to God physically, intellectually, spiritually, and socially, and maintaining a consistent walk with God. Some external clues for discerning God's will include studying the Bible, seeking counsel from other Christians, and paying attention to circumstances. Being fully in God's will results in continuity of movement from God, confidence in God's leadership, and positive consequences.

- Land rights in Nigeria are governed by both customary and statutory law, with the Land Use Act of 1978 vesting ownership of all land in each state with the governor as trustee.
- Minority Christian communities face difficulties acquiring land for churches, schools and other uses from traditional leaders in rural areas, who control land allocation and often refuse such requests.
- Rampant compulsory land acquisition by states and local governments under the guise of "overriding public purpose" also

This document provides brief biographies of several individuals involved in faith-based community development work in Africa, including:
- Caroline Powell who works with churches in South Africa on issues of land justice and equality.
- Bert Newton who organizes for affordable housing in Los Angeles through a faith-based organization.
- Nyumnloh David who works in international humanitarian law and human rights in Cameroon.
- Benvictor Dibankop who is the Country Director for Development Associates International in Cameroon.
The two-day Land Justice Network event will discuss theology of land rights and advocacy, historic issues of land dispossession, theology of creation care, land rights practices regarding eviction and tenure, local responses to land rights issues, land rights advocacy practices, disaster relief, and wider urban planning and environmental issues. The schedule provides details of presentations from various places including South Africa, Cameroon, the US, Sierra Leone, Nigeria. Presenters will share case studies and reflections. Participants will discuss the potential for a global land rights advocacy network. The event aims to equip participants to advocate for adequate housing, infrastructure, and address land injustice from practical and spiritual perspectives.
In Cameroon, all land is considered national land and is governed by Ordinance No 74-1. National land can be classified for housing, farms, or plantations. The process to purchase land involves searching, investigating, negotiating price, surveying, signing a deed, and registering the land certificate. However, this system is prone to issues like price inflation, conflicts of interest, and long delays in obtaining certificates. To address these problems, the document recommends properly investigating land before purchase, avoiding prohibited areas, registering land after purchase, and seeking legal remedies for disputes. It also suggests churches could help vulnerable Christians purchase affordable land and mediate conflicts between buyers and sellers.
This document discusses the need for a global Christian network to explore theology and practices around engagement in land rights issues affecting slums and tribal areas. It outlines various land rights challenges in Nigeria, including insecure land tenure, land grabbing, conflicts, and limited access to land for women. Specific examples from Jos Plateau are provided. The role of the church in advocacy, legal assistance, empowerment, and pastoral support is discussed. The conclusion calls for developing a global Christian culture to adequately address these land rights issues.
Caroline Powell works with The Warehouse Trust in Cape Town, South Africa. She is passionate about the role churches can play in imagining a more just and equal society. Through research, teaching, and engaging with church leaders, especially young people, she hopes churches will play a role in issues of land justice.
Bert Newton organizes for affordable housing justice in Pasadena, California through Making Housing and Community Happen. As a faith-based organization, they mobilize churches to transform their city on housing issues.
Yakubu Nuhu Chayi is the Country Director for TASTE in Nigeria, an organization focused on uplifting impoverished communities. With experience in development work, he provides strategic
This document outlines Dr. Viv Grigg's work developing theological education programs for slum communities. It discusses the origins of the programs in Manila slums in the 1970s-80s and the growth of indigenous movements in various global cities. It then details the curriculum developed for a Master's in Transformational Urban Leadership (MATUL) that trains slum leaders through action-based, story-telling methods influenced by Paulo Freire. The MATUL program incorporates fields like urban missiology, leadership studies, and grassroots theology. The document calls for expanding such training networks and resources to serve the growing number of slum residents and movements worldwide.
Central to the MATUL degree is the reality that the church is often the center of much of the development or community organization and transformation.
This document discusses various approaches to conducting research to understand a city from a missiological perspective. It outlines 9 areas of focus for urban research: 1) the city as an organism with evolving structures, 2) the city's geographic structures, 3) its peoples, 4) church planting and growth, 5) maps and statistics, 6) leaders within cities, 7) history to predict responsiveness, 8) factors for transformation, and 9) citywide networks. The goal is to listen to God's heart for the city, understand its dynamics, and discern strategic ways to engage its peoples and structures with the gospel.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

8. Jesus begs us to ask
• John 14: 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be
glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
• John 15:7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish,
and it will be done for you.
• John 15: 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you
might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my
name the Father will give you.
• Matt 7:7-9 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door
will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks
finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 “Which of you, if your
son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a
snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your
children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who
ask him!

3. Perseverance
Have you ever considered
intercessory prayer as struggle?
Years of discipline are needed
15. Seven Levels of Authority in
Intercession
• Level 1: The authority of character
• Level 2: Authority through fasting.
• Level 3: Mark 3:15 The authority of anointing.
• Level 4: Ezekiel 22:30 The authority of standing in the gap.
• Level 5: Eph 6: 11, 13 The authority of standing firm.
• Level 6: Luke 7:1-17 The authority of a commander.
• Level 7: Spiritual Authority as We Age
• The authority of a life long lived in his presence
(This topic to be covered more in the Spiritual Warfare section)
16. Example: The Prayer of
Jabez
• “Oh! that you would enlarge my
borders.”
• This is a prayer of faith.
• Bruce Wilkinson’s book has
encouraged many to levels of authority
through faith.
17. A Deviation: Name it and Claim it, Wacky
Authority
In contrast, based on the above truths, some TV evangelists
have developed a “technique” of prayer:
• If you name what you want
• Then claim it
• God will do it.
• This affirms faith, it affirms clarity, it affirms that God
answers prayer.
• But the “technique” violates the other principles of
relationship
• It becomes a demand on God, asserting our authority over him
• We cannot reduce him to a pawn in our belief system
18. 5. Pray in the Spirit
A deeper level of continuous prayer
There are a number of phrases in the
scriptures and across church history about
an ongoing continuous being in fellowship
with the Lord.
• Abiding in Christ (John 15:1-7)
• Walking in the Spirit
• Paul, commands us to: Pray in the Spirit, at
all times, with all kinds of prayers and
requests. With this in mind , be alert and
always keep praying for all the saints (Eph
6:18).
19. 5. Pray in the Spirit
A deeper level of continuous prayer
• The Practice of the Presence of God was a
little booklet by a humble monk that has
blessed many millions.
• Arthur Wallis published Pray in the Spirit in
1970 that impacted many in the charismatic
movement
• This is a discipline, a practice that few attempt.
It builds on the discipline of scripture memory,
for prayer develops as we pray through the
word of God, meditating on it. It requires a
quieted soul, what some in history have called
“centering down”.
20. 6. Aspects of Listening to God
Hearing the Voice of God
Listening to God is part of
this walking in the Spirit.
As we listen then we know
how to intercede.
1. We are to hear and
obey.
2. It is part of most
Christian traditions
3. Processes
• Tuning in to God
• Waiting in Silence
• Contemplating on the
