LIMESTONE PAVEMENT Tubber is in north-west Co. Clare on the edge of the 100-square-mile plateau of lunar-like limestone. Although it supports a sparse population in modern times, the Burren is home to a profusion of flowers and plants not found elsewhere in Europe. Also to be found are hundreds of ruined forts, megalithic tombs, caves, and underground streams.
TUBBER VILLAGE PAST AND PRESENT These are two pictures of the road beside our school. You can see our school at the left of the picture and our local church at the right. Things haven’t changed much! 2000’s 1940’s
In April/May of this year, we undertook our second school mural, on a wall in the playground of our school. We chose the theme of "Irish Myths & Legends" for this mural. We wanted to depict local legends with well-known Irish myths in the project. Our mural is divided into five 'panels', each depicting a seperate legend/myth. School Mural
DISCOVER PRIMARY SCIENCE We are involved in a programme called Discover Primary Science. We get to carry out lots of interesting experiments.
THIS IS SOME OF US DRESSED UP IN OUR COSTUMES: This year, we made a film called "The Legend of St. Colman". The film tells the history of Kilmacduagh and the story of St.Colman from his days as a hermit living in the wilds of the Burren to his friendship with King Guaire and his acquisition of the lands at Kilmacdough. Fis Film Project
XPERIENCE ENGINEERING PROJECT 2008/2009 This year we took part in a new project called 'Xperience Engineering'. We had to create a project in line with the theme 'Engineers Save Lives'. We chose a sub-theme of 'Road Design' for our project, taking particular interest in the new Atlantic Corridor being built along the west coast of Ireland, and especially the M18 Gort-Crusheen road which is currently under construction. Here we are visiting construction site of the no. 63 bridge on the N18 bypass from Gort–Crusheen
SHERKIN ISLAND ENVIRONMENTAL ART COMPETITION Each year we take part in Sherkin Island Environmental Competition. This year, we create posters under the theme "What is important to me in the environment". Below are some of our entries for 2009!
GREEN SCHOOL’S PROGRAMME We are currently working towards our third green flag which is on the theme of water. In 2008/2009/2010 we are hoping to continue our good work in the Green Schools Programme, focusing our attention on water, it's uses and how we can play a part in water conservation for future generations Looking at the effects of oil on water
FUNDRAISING FOR CHARITY We had a board games playing afternoon before Halloween to raise money for charity.
YARD GAMES We have a very small yard in our school. We play games with the parachute, cone toss, rugby drills and our national game of hurling.
