TTAP Method with Adolescents playing Games
This game will be dealing with teenagers. There will be 10 cards with different pictures on each. The pictures will incorporate different situations that a teenager may experience in their life. Growing up it is hard to determine just what the right or wrong decision may be. This game focuses on situations and how to deal with them as they arise in one’s life.
Step 1: Discussion For this step of the TTAP method I will take one card at a time and ask the adolescents to look at the card and as a group discuss the different ways to handle the situations.
Step 3: Words/ Poetry After the pictures are discussed I will ask the adolescents to choose a picture that they can best relate to. After the pictures are chosen I will hand out an index card, and on the card they will write down the five “W’s” Who, what, when, where and why. This will allow them to write down their experience and for them to write down how they acted in that specific situation. The group will then discuss different ways that the situation could have been dealt.
Step 4: Theme Event For this step of the TTAP method I will take the group to the mall to observe the situations that they have discussed. This will allow the adolescents to experience first hand what they saw in the pictures.
Step 4: Photography For this step of the TTAP method the adolescent will try to think of other situations. After they think of situations they will then try to find pictures in either magazines or using the internet to make their own cards.
Step 5: Music & Art For this step I will have each person write down their favorite song. I will then put the songs onto a CD, that way when we discuss the cards in the group we will be able to listen to it.
Step 6: Sculpture For this step I will have each member in the group create and decorate their own box of situations. In the box they will be able to place problems that arise for them in the box, and next time that situation comes up they know how to deal with it.
Step 7: Food For this step, I will take the group out to eat while we are in the mall. Being out in a community setting makes the adolescents aware of not only the different situations that occur but also how to handle them as well.
By using this TTAP method on games I feel that the adolescents will really get a lot out of this group. Using this game they are able to see real life situations and how to react to the certain situations. The situations will help the children know right from wrong when the situations arise in their lives.
