We went to a cabin on Lake Burton in northeast Georgia for a long weekend vacation. The cabin had a nice dock on the lake, where we swam and cooked meals. One night we went to the highly recommended Dillard House for dinner, where the food was plentiful enough for a dozen people. We went sightseeing one day, visiting Blackrock Mountain and the Foxfire Museum. We had a relaxing trip and enjoyed our time at the cabin by the lake.

1. Monday, 7-12-10: Connie, Amy, and I had a great vacation last week. We went to Lake Burton near Clayton in Northeast, GA, and stayed in a small cabin we had rented right on the Lake. It had a nice dock, and was a fun place to play in the water.<br /> <br />We traveled there on Thursday, and got in the cabin around 3 PM. We swam a bit and cooked steaks and corn on cob for supper.<br />Friday, we went to Dillard House for dinner, as recommended by Mike Keith of Ace Hardware fame. It was a fantastic experience. We were seated and our waiter immediately began setting food on the table. He filled our table for three with enough food for a dozen. He brought out take home plates to take all we wanted to home with us. I wouldn't want to eat there every day because I would weigh 600 pounds, but it was a unique experience that I'm glad to have had.<br /> <br />After dinner (lunch for the Yankees) we went sight-seeing. We went to Blackrock Mountain, which is quite high, and also visited Foxfire Museum, which is related to the books by that name about old-timey living.<br /> Dogwood hinges<br />Saturday, we had a leisurely morning, and headed home around noon. I enjoyed the entire three days, including the drive home on Saturday.<br />
