Monday Briefing, Student Council Meeting and NSS

1. MONDAY MEETING WITH THE CHAIRMAN
O ur chairman Dr. Thomas A lexander joined with the Trinity fam ily
fo r the M onday Briefing held on 5th August 201 8. He addressed
the students and faculty with great pleasure. Chairman congratu­
lated the students on the good result especially the toppers. He
appreciated the increased professionalism in their behavior. As the
Chief Executive of Al A drak, Oman, he said that up to 25 fresher
engineers from Trinity can be recruited into various projects each
year. S7 ECE B hardrapriya delivered a talk on Augmented and
Virtual Reality and shared student concerns.

2. TRINITY COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING
The class representatives meeting was held on 6th August 201 8 in the presence of our Principal Dr.Arun
Surendran and Vice Principal Dr. M ary M ettilda Rose. In the meeting Students council was form ed among
the elected representatives from each class. Student’s council includes 32 representatives, from whom
Vishnu Mohan (S7 ME) will be the Chairman, Saroj (S7 EEE) as Vice Chairperson, Brahmajith (S7 ME) as stu­
dent councilor, Divya S N air (S7 ECE) Secretary, Aravind (S7 ECE) as Treasurer. Saran (S7 CE) will be the
m agazine editor. Representatives from each batch were selected fo r his team. Arts (Aswin, S3 ME and
M eera, S7 CE ) and sports secretaries (Amal, S5 ME and Jessica, S5 ECE ) were also selected. The Stu­
dents’ Council will have regular weekly meetings.
STUDENTS’ COUNCIL MEETING
Visit to Vinobaniketen
O ur Principal Dr. Arun Surendran visited Vinobanik­
eten with the Young Indians (Yi) team members as a
prelude to our upcoming NSS camp during the Onam
vacation. Established in the 1950s, the ashram was
founded by Parivrija Amma, a disciple of Vinobaji.
She is 93 years old now. Vinobaji had stayed in the
Ashram during his Kerala visit fo r the Bhoodan M ove-
lent. Several eminent leaders of the nation including
Jayaprakash N arayan
have visited the ashram.
In 2005, then Prime Minis­
ter Manmohan Singh had
laid the foundation fo r a Vishwavidya peeth on the campus. Unfortunately
various factors led to the gradually slowing down of the activities. W ith the
help of Trinity NSS Camp, Young Indians Trivandrum hopes to kickstart a
revival of this historically im portant campus in Trivandrum
